So...anyone have any tips for me? I am trying to be a precise as possible with all my sewing...pinning the hell out of everything, cutting as exact as I can, etc. Still, the blocks aren't coming out as big as they need to be...what am I doing wrong?

Flannel is the only quilt fabric I prewash. It will shrink quite a bit compared to quilting cotton, and prewashing also tightens the weave. Have you tried starching it? That will keep it more stiff as well. Then the walking foot mentioned above.

I definitely pre-washed and dried, but haven't tried starch! I'll try that!
