Anyone make any plans for the ui[pcoming year? Would love to hear them
I have the usual New Years Bug and plan to organize, get fit, etc. I know it's cliche but I really do feel January is a great time for a fresh start. And I have actually had success with organizing in the past - but then it gets messed up again...lol
Anyway here is my list. I teried to make specific goals so it's reachable instead a blanket "Get fit"
Complete a 5k in the Spring Run a 5k without walking by the Fall. Lose 30 lbs. Get clothes put away to stop living out of laundry baskets. Purge old toys Read 24 books (2 per month)
That's pretty much it. Some are lofty but I truly believe realistic and reachable.
2017 is going to be a great year for me, I have high hopes that good things will happen this year. I'm not good at resolutions, but I do have word, that I have had even before I heard of oneword365, #Believe. Even when shitty stuff happens I believe everything happens for a reason, believe that it will all work out in the end. This year I'm taking my competitive riding to the next level and I have to believe that my horse and I are good enough to be there.
I did patience last year. I'm thinking calm or breathe for this year. My stress levels are out of control some days and there really is no good reason. I also need to exercise more and I'd like to read. I like the two book a month goal cjcouple
I like that goal, abs. I'm going to add that to my list. Resolutions I've been thinking about are, more books, exercise, keeping up with clutter and downsize all of our toys. We donated a bunch of stuff before Xmas but it's out of control again.
My main goal is to make my health more of a priority this year. So far I've started going to the chiropractor for my back, which has been bothering me for, well, basically the four years since DS came along. It's actually made a big difference, so I'm happy about that.
1. I feel like I fell down the rabbit hole with DS2 and my life has become all about the kids so 2017 is about regaining a healthy balance for myself and DH. I feel like I've neglected DH and he's been so supportive and understanding but I'm sure I'm running out of runway with him. This actually I've been working on for the past two months and things have been going great. 2. I also want to loose 10 pounds. I'm getting back to my college weight if it's the last thing I do this year. Eating less sugar and snacking less without using "I'm still nursing!" as a crutch. 3. No phone after 8pm or infront of the kids.

I nursed DS until he was 2.5 (he weaned just over a year ago), and I am 100% positive the "but I'm nursing" excuse is what I can blame this extra weight on. I'm guessing nursing a 2-year-old two times a day does not burn the same kind of calories as nursing a newborn round the clock. Oops.
1. I want to feel good about how I look. Maybe that's vain, but especially with the nonprofit taking off, my picture and presence is out there more than I am used to, and I don't want to dread these events and stress over how I will look. I think that's probably a combo of losing a little weight, learning to better dress this post-two-kids, later-30s body, and taking the time to feel put together.
2. I want to make sure being active is a part of our routine. I feel like we're really good at this in the summer, but I want to make sure we're getting outside and moving all year. For my own health, and to set the example for my kids.
3. I want to read more. I love reading at bedtime, but get so busy that I am working/sewing/folding laundry right up until I fall asleep or I play on my phone instead. I need to get back into a reading habit.
I need to get healthy. Now that we are done having kids I need to focus on my eating and exercise habits. I can't do anything drastic yet since I'm still nursing but I'm doing 21 day sugar detox to cut down (or eliminate) my cravings.
We need to get our finances on track too. We spend way too much and save too little.
1. Get back into working out now that the baby is getting older. I'm going to start with 3 times per week, but would like to get to 5 times by the end of the year.
2. Run a 5K.
3. Take an overnight trip with H without the kids.
4. Cut way back on sugar. I'm addicted. I've given it up in the past, but I'm just not ready to give it up again. I'm going to work on my first two goals and hope this one will happen naturally. I tend to want more water and healthy foods when I'm working out on a regular basis.
Bumping because I wanted to check to see how I did on my 2017 resolution...I didn't do too badly, I guess.
Thank you for finding this! I’m happy to report I did all those things! Well, the first 7 months of 2017 were hard but in the fall I got it together and did lose those ten pounds, DH and I have found ourselves finally after a long time, and I do limit my phone time infront if the kids. Hoping to continue into 2018- fostering a better relationship with DH, continuing to eat better and exercise, stop stressing out or yelling at the kids, learn how to knit and I think we are going to try for #3.
gastro #3!! So exciting. I know you were hesitant about #2. Best of luck. I did ok on my goals. Honestly forgot my word, but I think I’ve done better with patience. I did not read 24 books 😂 I should count though bc I did read more.
What a difference a year makes. I’m happy with what I accomplished in the first 6 months. This year is about patience, I have a long road of rehabilitation ahead of me, but I’m determined to pick up where I left off.
Dr’s have already prepared me for being in it for 12-18 months 😬 I just have to remind myself self of how far it’s come and celebrate the little victories. It’s pretty easy right now because it’s winter, and I’m not missing out on too much anyway. Thank you for the positive thoughts.
So 2017 ended up being a crazy year for me and I ended up doing the opposite of all of my resolutions. Lol. Except go out of town with H and no kids. We did that and it was fun! But going back to work and grad school meant less exercise, worse diet, and 8 extra pounds.
Finish nursing school, and pass my boards. Keep putting my marriage at the top of the to do list...dating each other and keeping romance happening. 21 years in June! Buy our forever home, and no more military moves! (Retirement time) Give back. To something. I am not sure yet, but I need to volunteer somewhere. School has kept me so insanely stressed, I need to do something to make others happy...and that will help put some peace back in my heart.

Add yours :-)
I really want to get more healthy as well. Just not huff and puff going up stairs...ya know? I want to focus on that once school is done. I really can't do a lot when I am having to study for tests. LOL! I feel guilty if I do anything other than study. I could fit in 15 minutes of walking, I could...I guess I am just scared to start. I'm carrying around an extra 60 lbs since high school. UGH!
I also love to read! I hate it when I can't read for pleasure, so once school is done I am back on my books. LOL!
Just reading this thread has reminded me (on January 17th!!) that I want to read more. Do textbooks count? I’m plowing through my real estate classes, but it’s not leaving time for much else.
