It felt way too early to me - but some of the places I've called say they do book up months in advance because they have limited spaces, so I'm looking.
BTW Kate - I toured the facilty Lily goes to and I had mentioned I know you. The director was like, "oh she's ..." and then she caught herself because I think she wasn't sure I knew you were pregnant
I think its great that you are looking now. How long with you be home before going back to work?
I remember my friend having a hard time finding someone who had space for an infant.
I'm going to max out the 12 weeks FMLA requires my company to hold my job. With everything that it's taken to get pregnant, and the anxiety I've had with the bleeding, I'm beginning to think we might be a one and done family, so I want to take full advantage of time off.

I feel the same way about being one and done. But I keep telling myself that the hard work now will pay off in the long run. Once the second baby is here all my struggles will be a distant memory.
Good luck finding a daycare! I worked for the first 5 months of Macy's life and I remember the anxiety of making sure she was in good care. I couldn't get into a daycare that was decent (but that's South Texas, not Tampa!) and I was able to find a good at home sitter. She was a Navy Jet Fighter Pilot's wife, was a NP, and was staying at home with her daughter who was 3 months older than Macy. We paid a lot for her (well, for this area) but it was well worth not having to worry if my baby was taken care of. Hope you find something you are just as comfortable with
Good luck! I thought I started looking early too and was shocked when some places wouldn't have an opening. As it stands, Mia is in our second choice because our first choice was going to be full with siblings from already enrolled children. They have me call them every four weeks to try to get her in when she turns one.
We're also 13 weeks this time around (the 12 weeks for me, followed by one week of PTO for Khan) even though most of that is unpaid, and the first half is paid at a whole 50%. With Lily, we had originally planned for 8 weeks, and it didn't take me long to realize that just wasn't enough. It was really hard at that point to figure it out financially, but I'm so glad we did -- and I'm lucky that my work didn't give me a hard time for extending my leave 3 extra weeks. There is a HUGE difference between a 6-week-old baby and a 12-week-old. It was so much easier to go back to work when she was even just a few weeks older. It breaks my heart for people who have no financial way to do more than 6 weeks. That must really be really hard.
