Its pretty, but 1. what is it? and 2. What would you do with it?
I am coveting this. I have wanted these chairs for years. They are usually $325/ea but on sale for $195. I would buy them if they had the black base and not chrome. They never go on sale, but the color is being discontinued and it would actually go with my room.
I'm coveting a master bathroom. Just a modest 3/4 bath, but HAVING A MASTER BATH. This week I am writing a big, big check to become an equity partner in my firm, with money that I had saved up to add a master bedroom with en suite bath on our house. Now that is going to have to wait. I know buying in is good for my career and hopefully for our long term finances, but I was so close to a real honest to God master bedroom that I could taste it.

Ooh, I want to hear all about this! I'm hoping to do a master bedroom / master bathroom / laundry addition to our house too. Oh, man, sorry, I read it wrong the first time. I thought your partnership was going to lead to a big chunk of cash that would allow you to build. Well, hopefully that'll still be true. Go Susie!

It's a cabinet. It would be beautiful in the new master bedroom addition that I will never be able to afford if I keep spending money that should be earmarked for it! ;-)
dr.girlfriend , in the (very) big picture, hopefully! But yeah, for now I just blew my reno fund on my buy-in down payment, and I'll be paying off the balance over the next 3 years. So not only did I wipe out my reno fund, but rebuilding will be slow at first, until I start seeing my share of profits.
The plan for the reno is to add the master suite to our side hall colonial over the garage. Several other houses in our neighborhood have done it. It's only a 1 car garage so we have modest square footage to work with, but it will mean we can add a 2nd kid bedroom while keeping an office and a guest room (for my dad), and going from 1.5 to 2.5 baths. I've been putting off buying master bedroom furniture until we do it, and I'm hoping the siding on our house hangs on until we are ready, since an addition like that is a logical time to redo the siding. The siding component just ups the ante on cost of the whole thing.

Are you willing to volunteer how much you've earmarked for it? Ours will be a ground-floor addition, but I don't know anyone who's done something similar, so I've mostly been going off homewyze estimates until we get an architect involved. I've got a rough figure of $100k in mind, although I suspect $150k may be more likely. Kind of similar, I'm hoping our roof holds out because I don't want to re-roof the garage that we will be tearing down to build the addition in its place! For us it would mean not sharing a TINY 1950's bathroom with our kid, and also having a guest room / office which is not an option now in our 2-bedroom. I feel bad because there's not even place for an air mattress for guests unless it's downstairs, which means they would be sharing with the doggie.
dr.girlfriend, we hadn't set a firm budget. We were in sight of the $50k mark, which was what I wanted to save up before talking to a contractor. I was hoping not to break $75k.
dr.girlfriend that is really a beautiful cabinet seeing all the pictures.
I bit the bullet and bough the chairs. H is confident he can prime and spray paint the base. We will see or we will leave it chrome and just have mixed metal.

Know any interior designers/architects? We got a pretty good "trade" discount on 6 Eames chairs via Herman Miller. The local rep (had to go through her) had them delivered to our garage.

I would totally spray paint the base. Sounds like a great buy.
