I feel like I haven't been participating. Things are thrown off with DH being around.
Things are going okay. DH has been a tremendous help since he has been home. He is doing most of the cooking, tons of cleaning, and doing a huge part of taking care of G. Job loss sucks but in a way it was a great time for it.
The shower and floor are totally done and look fantastic. We're midway through mudding the new drywall so that I can paint and add trim. The toilet and vanity are just sitting in boxes until I paint. So, definitely not done but pretty close and at least semi-functional
katiek are you still around? I haven't seen you post in a while. If so, how's life?
I have been wondering about katiek too. Hope all is well and she is just busy with two little ones.
bk1- glad things are going well considering the circumstances. Is your DH applying everywhere or just local?
amaranth- right now we are trying to get the leak fixed. Hopefully it won't cost much (a roofer finally came out yesterday and if DH was able to do what he said and it's fixed then it was $10 and now we just need to repair the carpet pad etc). Otherwise we want to do Windows next...everything is single pane and our house has major temperature issues (too hot in summer, cold in winter). Kitchen will be years down the road once the kids are past destroying everything. I would love to do the bathrooms (stain cabinets, new hardware etc) but DH says we need a whole new set of cabinets since these are old and bad and not worth doing work with. So, in short...nothing we wanted to do originally is likely getting done. A new backyard would be nice too because all the rocks is really not kid friendly. We also need to make a decision on DH's car, whether to keep it or replace it. And he might be looking for a job closer to home starting next month (I told him I need L sleep trained first so bedtime is easier on me).
luv2rn4fun - So far local. We have talked about how if really good opportunities arise in other locations to apply. It would have to be pretty ideal to move away from family but we don't want to eliminate the option completely.
I hope you can get the new windows. They make such a huge difference and worth every penny of the investment.
amaranth So glad it is semi functional! Sounds like you have made it past some of the hardest parts.
luv2rn4fun We did a kitchen "refresh" several years ago and decided against replacing cabinets because I figured kids would be rough on them. I was right and I'm so glad I'm waiting. DS regularly slams/plays drums with the doors and runs various push toys into them at full speed. Same thing with the cabinetry in his bathroom...I'll have nice things once kids are out of the house and I can afford it again, lol. Only 20 years to go? Glad the roof seems to be an inexpensive fix!
Update on E: he can tolerate cheese and cream cheese. We'll be trying cow's milk again this weekend.
Update on my job status: interviewed yesterday, waiting to hear back.
Update on moving: inspection is at 1030 cst today, my BIL is our on site person. Option period ends this weekend. I'm supposed to be massively decluttering and cleaning for pictures tomorrow to list our current home. But...
Update on my ears/sinuses: my ears are crap again. Went to the ENT today for my allergy shot, but they withheld it because I'm having bad allergy symptoms. Instead I got a surprise visit with the ENT that included a hearing test (failed my word recognition) and a CT scan. No infection, just bad allergies. But oh, my nasal septum deviates to the left, which clogs more easily, and that is my hearing side.
And hi, all! Sorry I've been so MIA lately. I committed to doing WAY too many homemade Christmas presents, so the entire month of December was frantic knitting and quilting. Then, after Christmas, we went to Iowa with a brief stop in Chicago. It's been completely crazy, and the kids have been giant clingy grumps. But I think things are finally becoming a little more routine and normal, so hopefully I'll be around more again!
On the plus side, I've only had one migraine in the last three weeks, which is much better than it has been!
