Bully, the shock top probably is probably a good one for you to try. I haven't had their flavored beers, but I like the regular one and I bet you would too.
Panickd- I do love the hazel brown.
Mags---I would make you pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting that you would swoon over!
Luibot--thanks for the rec! I love shocktop so I will have to check out the pumpkin.
And Muddled--I took your advice and had 1 (or 3) Fat Jack pumpkin ales at dinner tonight. Woot! What XBF?! Haha!
Muddled, Sam Adams sells Harvest Pumpkin Ale by the case. Can you call a distributor and have them order one (or several) for you?
And yeah, I hide the "good stuff" from friends/family, too. We had a mixed case of Sam Adams that included the Cherry Wheat. Hell, I even told DH to keep his hands off them!
I'm also loving that everyone is chiming in with other pumpkin beers to try - sounds like I'll have to go to the distributor this weekend to see if they have any left!
I have nothing to add re: pumpkin beers, but I've discovered a delicious hard cider with Irish stout flavors. Crispin Lansdowne, with Irish stout yeast and organic molasses. It's seriously good. Some ciders are too sweet and/or perfumey, but not the Crispin.
I agree that a lot of the Dogfish Head beers are very hoppy and absolutely not my taste. The Punkin Ale, however, is not hoppy at all. It is, by far, my all time favorite beer. It is a bit higher in alcohol content (around 7 or so, I think) than your average lager or whathaveyou, so you do need to pace yourself. (Or not, depending on your goal. Lol!)
If you go to the Dogfish Head website, they have something called Fish Finder which will let you search your area by variety to see what bars/distributors have received deliveries. That should help with locating it, depending on how popular it is in your area.
I totally agree. I had the Sam Adam's pumpkin, and was really disappointed- not very pumpkiny. My favorite beer ever is Dogfish's pumpkin. I ration (and hide) my beers out for the year (my parents are local to the brewery and get me cases). I also love Dogfish's Olde School.
Ok, so I will not be trying the UFO. Thanks, Bowies. Or maybe I will. Trash, treasure, all that.
Liubot- I actually have had a sip pf the Shock Top Raspberry Wheat. I was expecting a regular one, so needless to say, I was quite surprised and very disappointed.
Geek- I will keep my eye open for the Sam. Thanks! I admit I haven't looked very hard. I am trying to limit myself a little. I am not a Cherry Wheat fan- I find it to be too sweet. I don't like fruity beers in general. Pumpkins are special.

Random question regarding pumpkin flavored alcohol, but I saw Pinnacle vodka has a pumpkin pie flavor which sounds amazing. I had a dream last night that I was layering it in a shot glass with other liquors and it looked like fall stripes. What would you mix that with in a normal beverage scenario?

This sounds yum.
Spiced Pumpkin Martini
•2oz Spiced pumpkin infused vodka •1 oz spiced syrup •1 small piece of fresh ginger •Ginger slice for garnish

So, I'm realizing that my taste in pumpkin beer seems to be off from everyone else's. I tried the Dogfish last night and it just tasted like a regular brown ale to me. I'm thinking my tastebuds don't do subtlety, which means I'll never realize my dream of being a Top Chef judge. ::cries::
