Last night, H tried to tell me that if I can read a book in one day it doesn't count as a full book.
This came up because I sat down and read a book from start to finish on my Kindle yesterday. Since he couldn't actually see the book, he was convinced that the only way I could do that was if I was reading a short story of some sort. The conversation went kind of like this:
H: "You read that too quickly. There's no way that was an actual book. You can't count that as one of your 24 books for the year." Me: "No, I'm just a fast reader. It's an almost 400 page book. It definitely counts." H: "Riiiiiiiiight. What, like 400 Kindle pages? Those don't count as real pages." Me: "No, the paper version has almost 400 real pages! It's a real book! It counts!" H: "Mmhmm, suuuuuuure."
katespade That's so funny! My hubs would say the same thing lol! I'm also a really fast reader! Nice Work! I need to start my reading!
I am SOO sick. I am heading to the doc at 3 today. My whole workplace is basically sick so I'm not taking any chances. Usually I would just baby it and take care of myself at home but since really sick is floating around I'm not chancing it! Yuck!! This is really throwing off my productivity and budget...
travelbug - I'm sorry that you're sick! I hope the doctor is able to help you out. Be sure to take care of yourself! It seems like whatever has been going around in my area has been especially nasty this year, too.
I ended up reading two books this weekend - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. I've missed reading so much that now I can't seem to stop. lol.
My younger sister read each twilight book in less then a day. So it's possible to read a book that fast.
We had a nice dinner with my parents and siblings yesterday, my brother quit his out of town job and he found another job in town. (he was in oil and gas.)
Today has been a productive day and I'm feeling great.
My husband is a speed reader and sometimes I tease him about just skimming a story because I can't comprehend his ability to finish so quickly. He read all the Harry Potter books in one weekend!
I'm feeling really lousy today because I spent so much money I went grocery shopping at Costco and only bought things from my list (yay me, avoided the clothes and houseware departments entirely) BUT, I stocked up on meat and pantry staples and still spent $250. I'm really nervous about staying on track for groceries the rest of this month. Then I went to JoAnn's for one item. I had only $14 left for my monthly discretionary items and spent $45. I seriously feel like shit. I don't know if I should try to take things back, take it out of next month's fun money, or what. If I tell my H he'd give me his fun money, but that isn't fair to him. I know how to budget, but this sewing hobby is making me a maniac. I've never had issues like this before!
I know what you mean about grocery budget amaranth. I blew ours out of the water on Saturday. I'm LUCKY that some money is coming to me to cover it. I've been SUPER careful for a long time on everything. I felt like such a goof. I could have pulled the money from somewhere else....but didn't want to do that.
katespade, I read the last Harry Potter in one day. it's possible. he's just jealous he can't read fast like us.
still (im)patiently waiting on the potential job to call me for an interview. I've already called the manager directly and left a message, and the recruiting office and left them a message.
pooh8402 - Fingers crossed for you!! I hope you hear from them soon! Did they give you a timeline of when you might expect to hear back?
I regularly read books in one day. If I get sucked into a story, I can't put it down. It's just been so long since I've had time to read that H has apparently forgotten that's how I do it. lol.

the recruiter and I talked last week, and we set an appointment for 11 am this morning for the manager to call me to do the phone interview. I had my calendar up on my laptop, phone at my side, and my resume and notepad sitting in front of me at 1045. starting at 1100, I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the phone to ring. I called both back and left messages that were basically "um, I have an interview today??? hello??? beuller???" (but more professional that that obviously). I was afraid to go pee until about an hour ago, anticipating them calling me back.

so yea, I had a timeline, at 1100 today.
Oh no! And neither of them have gotten back to you? That's so awful. Now I REALLY hope someone gets back to you ASAP.
I ended up calling the manager again. She was "about to call [me] back." Apparently a crazy busy day. Not unusual for Mondays in L&D, to be honest. Our Mondays are either super slow or crazy busy. No in between. We had our interview right there. She didn't ask a bunch of questions, some clarification questions about my resume, then why this field? Well that was easy enough to answer. most of the interview was her telling me about the unit. eta: she said I'd hear something by the end of the week.
DS had a bad cough this AM that continued through the day at daycare. He now has a temp. I am worried he has pneumonia but left my stethoscope at work.
One of the doctors I work with is going to listen to him in a little bit when he finishes a meeting he has which is great but means I have to miss my dance class. Beggers cant be choosers though.
Well... I am now on antibiotics for 10 days, Flonase for 7, and Benadryl or equilivant for 4! I took tomorrow off... I feel like death hit me with a semi. Hoping by tomorrow I'll be feeling slightly better! Being sick stinks!

Oh my gosh! What do they think you have? Bronchitis?
@melsmoony I hope your DS feels better and that it's not pneumonia. My B has the same symptoms now and I'm debating taking her to the pedi. She gets this same 'thing' all the time and it's always a virus.
pooh8402- ((hugs)) hope weaning goes better than anticipated and your get this job.
Looks like we are going to Disneyland tomorrow! I am looking forward to getting out of the house for the morning and giving C a day mostly all about him! I heard back from L's pedi and she gave me the ok to sleep train so that will start Fri and be my focus for a couple weeks (she said to drop to 1 feeding but I might do 2...see how it goes. I will be happy with him putting himself to sleep, especially for naps So I can better care for C).
It rained all morning so we did bagels and grocery shopping after nap. Much more stressful because I didn't plan well and had to unload groceries, cook dinner, and get L down for a nap. We did get to play outside with the neighbors for a few minutes before bed...always great seeing them!
amaranth I would return stuff if you don't actually need it. I always feel better when I do that. Related: I haven't bought anything yet this month! I'm on a spending break because January's budget is tight.

Acute Sinusitis . Basically a sinus infection. My face is all puffy because my sinuses are so swollen. The doc said I would of gotten way worse if I hadn't of come in, so I'm very thankful I decided to go! My antibiotics are great! I'm feeling a little better then yesterday. Amen! Hopefully after today I'll be on the up and up!

Another thing I just thought of....some of our managers here are CRAPPY interviewers. We're currently working with some of them on it. I hate that they didn't handle this better. I also think this may not be one of her best skills. Hopefully, her staff absolutely love her and she's better on the floor than she is in interviewing.
