AF showed up this morning. Which must mean I didn't ovulate this month because we BD on all the "right" days and even the wrong ones. I hope I start to O this next cycle, at least with noticeable signs. I'm buying a stupid bbt today, eff this game.
I cried like a loser. And now I feel like I deserve a lot of wine...but it's 8:30am!
We had sex like 8 days in a row last month, before, during, and after the good time and it didn't happen, but I'm fairly certain I ovulated due to temps.
But that doesn't mean you didn't ovulate. I've read you only have a one in four chance of conceiving even with perfect timing around/before ovulation.
Man. That's a depressing statistic. Not to be tmi, but we had frequent relations guys. But maybe not right before O, so we missed it?? Meh. Start fresh now. At least I can drink without reservation...
I've ovulated the last five cycles and we timed sex perfectly. Nothing. And this cycle our timing might be just a little off so I don't have high hopes at all considering the last few WERE perfect.

So many factors go into sperm meeting egg properly, it doesn't necessarily mean you didn't ovulate. Even a perfect situation will not create a pregnancy for one reason or another. GL next month!

You ladies are sweet. Thanks. I feel alone IRL because I've chosen to keep this process private, (so you know, self inflicted solitude but still) no one knows I'm off the pill even, let alone ttc. I'm realizing quickly how grateful I am for this board.

btw I LOVVVVE how quickly I went from from "meh, we'll just see how it goes thefirst few months" to emotional and ragey "I'm buying a f*cking bbt" lol I be cray
Have you tried opks's? I can not deal with the uncertainity of not knowing if an when I ovulated and temping was honestly still to much guess work for me lol. You could buy internet cheapies and go that route. I perosnally brought the $40 clear blue pack digital and started testing day 11 of my cycle until I got the "smiley face" saying I was ovulating. Then next cycle I started using them day 13 until I got the smiley face. It has 20 in a pack so could last two cycles if you work the best timing should only need 10 or less in a cycle (though the pack says start testing on day 6 which of course would mean you would use almost the whole thing in one cycle lol- they soooo want your money for a second pack). Either route you choose hope your successful next cycle.

I half assed an opk this month. Tested the morning of day 14, with no + result. But that makes sense because I prob didn't O til around day 16-17 this cycle. But I seriously cannot hold my pee long enough. I pee like a lot lol
FTR, I can't really hold pee either, but I try to test morning, afternoon, and then after work.
Sometimes, it's just afternoon and after work though. Morning is the least helpful. I usually start testing around CD10, and have O'ed CD16 and CD17. I like it in combination with temping though because I had such a weird barely positive OPK that it was nice to have the back-up confirmation from temping.

If you got your period with a 31 day cycle I'm guessing you ovulated. From chart stalking on the bump, it seems like annovulatory cycles are pretty long (like 60+ days).
For OPK's I limit fluid intake and hold for a couple of hours. Peeonastick.com has a chart of when you should start using them - like on what cycle day. Last month I O'ed on CD11, so if I had waited until CD14 to test I would have missed it.
The Great Sperm Race is a video (or several videos I think) on YouTube about the rough journey a sperm has and why the odds of getting pregnant each month are low.
I was just going to suggest that you watch The Great Sperm Race. It's a 10-part series on YouTube. Very informative. The 2nd poster in this thread was right - even with perfect timing you only have a 20-25% of conceiving. There are so many factors at play.
And dude. This is your first cycle off BCP if you're this anxious now, I'm worried about what the next few months will entail. I waited an entire year after getting off birth control just to learn my cycle and figure out what my body's "normal" is. I'm still not even sure, lol.

Thnx for the suggestion I'll check it out. And seriously, I'm fine, I had posted first thing this morning when AF showed.
I was feeling reaallllyy sensitive, and frustrated about the fact that we're all told our whole lives how quickly, and easily you will get pg when you have unprotected sex...and then when you WANT it, it doesn't go that way (unless you're my cousin and you had an oops baby cycle one).
Now I'm drinking, so everything is fiiine. :drink:

It is pretty interesting but puts everything in perspective. You only have a one in four/five shot at conceiving each month even with perfect timing. It took me 6 cycles since my last mc to conceive this time. We had great timing every cycle.

I tooooootally feel you on this. We've been SO careful for SO long because we were so afraid of an oops. Most of our relationship (11 years!) we used BCP and condoms. It's so ingrained in us that getting pregnant can happen SO easily, but when you actually WANT it, you realize how monumentally hard it can be.
Hang in there. Try not to obsess. I am genetically predisposed to obsession, so I made sure going into TTC that I keep myself in check. I have thus far opted not to temp for that reason. I bought a BBT, but haven't used it yet. I figured I would give myself at least 6 months of just using OPKs before I took the next step in charting. OPKs are easier to me.
Maybe give yourself a threshold of obsession and a set amount of time before you will let yourself get more involved?

You know it's funny you say this. I bought a BBT yesterday, but I tucked it in my bedside drawer, and have made a conscious decision to NOT temp just yet after all.
My initial plan with ttc was to just sorta keep track of my cycle, but not "try" so much as "not prevent". You see from posts ^ above ^ I quickly abandoned that plan, and that was foolish, because I obsess/worry by nature, and I think the less I think right now, the better. I signed up for FF just to keep track of my length of cycle, and when my potential lucky days are. That's it.
I think now that I've calmed down from Episode One: Woe Is Me, I can see clearly again. Unfortunately I'm one that has to work hard to stay relaxed until I have to worry; according to my doctor, if I'm not pregnant by Feb 2013 with timed intercourse, that's when we need to take action. That will be six months.
So, I'll stick to what she says. I'm lucky she'll look into things with me that soon even, based on things girls are saying here.
