When I added up how much we're spending a month for both DDs classes/activities, it's $500/month! This is on top of our childcare expenses. This covers DD1's preschool for 2 days, gymboree and swim classes for both and DD1's ballet class. It's ridiculous! I fear that it's only gonna get costlier as they get older

Having your girls so close in age doesn't help. I'm fortunate that B will be in school before M starts going to preschool, so at least we will save there. This year is great because B is in vpk, so we no longer have to pay for mornings. But I don't forward to the expense when they are both doing lots of activities.
I'll mark this on the "one and done" side in my decision making chart. Right now it's more of "can I afford to work?" which is much easier than "can I afford to stay home?"
My H brought up the idea of one and done for this very reason. Man-o-man kids are expensive. But I have found a few weekly activities around town that are free of charge for Macy, so that's made it easier on my pocketbook.
