Haven't done one of these in awhile. Thought we could do a whatcha putting on your face these days check in.
Skincare: At night: cleanse zero, CeraVe, Thayer' no alcohol witch hazel as a toner, a couple of serums, lush skin drink, jojoba oil a couple of times a week, lush enchanted eye cream and I rotate through several lip balms which seems to be working for my poor lips. Also a sheet mask a couple of times a week.
Daytime: rinse, Thayer witch hazel, moisturizer with spf.
Makeup: I finally completely organized my vanity and storage. I have a drawer that has all my go-tos in it which has made work mornings much smoother. My usual make up is:
UD Naked Foundation or IT CC cream Benefit erase paste Tarte's shape tape NYX blotting powder Milani eye primer ABH dip brow Tarte mascara primer UD perversion or MUFE smokey extravaganza mascara
Blush, eye shadow, eyeliners and blush (basically colors) I try to keep rotating so as not to get in a rut but it's wicked hard.

Skincare is simple, recovering from 3 months of cystic breakouts...but.... Epiduo has been working wonders! NOTHING was working.
Morning - PC acne cleanser Aczone on my chin PC skin balancing moisture gel
Evening - same cleanser and moisturizer, or I'll swap with PC anti acne/wrinkle moisturizer. Both are great. Epiduo before moisturizer. Bee naturals peeper creeper eye cream (awesome and cheap!)
Makeup: Y.nique mineral liquid touch and set with Jane Iredale foundation (both holy grail for me). Smashbox anti blemish primer. Boots highlighting concealer. W3LL people illuminating setting powder. Tarte LCL mascara, or PF organic mascara. IT cream liner. Everything else I switch up based on mood
I'm still working out my skincare routine with all the Asian skin care products. But here are the products I'm trying out.
Morning: Cosrx low ph good morning gel cleanser Belif moisturizing bomb Shiseido sunscreen
Evening: The face shop rice water cleansing oil Cosrx cleanser Benton aloe toner Cosrx bha blackhead liquid Benton snail bee high content essence Benton aloe soothing gel First aid beauty ultra repair cream Belif eye cream
Makeup: Bobbi brown moisture rich foundation Amazing cosmetics concealer UD eyeshadow primer Tarte blush Tarte tartelette eyeshadow palette Cover girl clump crusher mascara Hourglass ambient light palette Bobbi brown lipstick Buxom gloss
I'd like to jump in here. I've been following some of the threads, and this board is what really got me into Asian beauty
Morning Quick wipe with Micellar water Cosrx Snail 96 Power Essence Vitamin C serum Moisturizer- Just switched from belif moisturizing bomb to IT Confidence in a Cream
Evening Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil (newer purchase and I am LOVING it) Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser Benton Snail Bee High Content Toner Baebody Eye Gel Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream
I think I am doing my routines in the right order. If you see a mistake, feel free to point it out! 1-2 times a week I do the Skin Food Black Sugar Mask followed by a sheet mask of some sort.
I don't do a full face of makeup most weekdays, but I always put on my Skin food Salmon concealer topped with Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser, and Tarte Bb Cream. On weekends, I'll add nore makeup, but at this point, it's mostly drugstore stuff, or the less pricey stuff from ulta/Sephora. Except for my Becca liquid highlighter in champagne pop, and sometimes a high end mascara.
Morning Cera ve foaming or just warm water Cosrx galactomyces Hadalabo premium lotion Whatever essence I'm testing at the moment. (Currently etude honey cera) Sometimes a tester moisturizer, sometimes cera ve pm with a drop of MLM oil biore watery essence
Pm Mix of castor and avocado Cera ve foamING St Ives facial care pads Cosrx bha Same eccense etc above Plus a tester heavy cream/sleeping pack
Makeup gotos Still tarte BB primer. I stray but always come back. WnW RYC Benefit roller lash everything else subject to change
AM: Cosrx Good Morning cleanser Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin power essence Scinic Snail AIO Ampoule Sunday Riley Tidal (sample) or Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream Biore Watery Essence Sunscreen
PM: Lancome Eye Make up Remover Innisfree Apple Juicy Cleansing Oil Su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick (with konjac sponge a few days a week) Actives: still working out my schedule but I use Stridex Red, Mizon AHA 8% Peeling Serum, and prescription Tretinoin 0.025% Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin power essence Night renewing serum (from an MLM company so I'm leaving out the brand name, will try a non-MLM/cheaper brand when done) Scinic Snail AIO Ampoule Sheet Mask (almost every night, I LOVE it!) Miss Flower Mr Honey Cream Laneige Water Sleeping Mask (believe it or not, lately without this on top of the Miss Flower Mr Honey, I've been dry in the mornings) Eyes: Garnier Ultra-Lift Miracle Sleeping Cream Eye Cream Lips: MLM Lip Serum OR plain old Vaseline (they are the same as far as results for me, so once the serum is done, I'll be using vaseline full time)
Then day or night whenever I need some extra moisture I use Fresh Rose Floral Toner
Make up: Laura Galler Real Deal Concealer Face: Either Loreal Lumi Foundation or Pacifica Ultra CC Cream depending on what I'm doing that day/if I want to be fancy or casual Blush: NARS desire or Beauty.counter (from the Target collab.) cream blush stick in Hibiscus (I like it but not enough to pay their full prices!) Eyes: UD Primer Potion, I almost always reach for the Naked 3 Palette, and have been loving Laura Geller i-care eyeliner in Caffe Mocha, and for mascara I'm using Laura Geller Fortifying Lashes primer (LOVE), Laura Geller Glamlash mascara (pretty good), Maybelline the Falsies (pretty good), and Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes (fine but not better than drugstore - or I haven't figure out how to use it yet lol) Lips: I have a lot and I'm not loyal. Cycle through a lot of different stuff- whatever I see at Target/get in sample sizes/get on crazy sale. Laura Geller, NYX, Bite, Sephora, NARS, MUFE

I'm still figuring out my skincare routine and need to put my questions in the AB thread. But, what I'm doing now:
Evening: Julep cleansing oil (for double cleanse) Cerave foaming face wash C 20 Vitamin C Missha First Essence Cosrx Snail Essence 96 (occasionally a sheet mask here) Face oil (finishing Josie Maran sample) Neutrogena night Cream Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream Cerave eye cream Sometimes the Tony Moly banana sleeping pack
Morning Nip+Fab BHA/AHA pads (maybe 4x/week) Cerave foaming cleanser C 20 Vitamin C Missha First Essence Cosrx Snail Essence 96 Face oil (just a drop or 2) Cerave PM face lotion Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream Skinfood Salmon brightening eye cream Nivea sunscreen
Makeup - UD primer potion - Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit and Skinny Jeans - Stila liquid eyeliner -- black on top, brown on bottom - Benefit roller lash mascara - Hourglass primer (sample -- will replace with NYX Angel Veil) - Tarte 12 hour foundation - Tarte powder blush - Laura Mercier bronzer for contouring - Becca highlighter - It Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush
These routines are impressive. I do well most days to remember to put on moisturizer and I rarely do anything with my face at night. That said, I need to make a change.
Any simple suggestions for someone just getting started? I consistently have a fairly flushed face. My skin is dry on my upper cheeks and forehead. My nose is hit or miss.
I love makeup, though, and am looking for the right foundation to work with my patchy skin.
I've been trying to slim down my skincare routine as I was running through some stuff just too fast and it was getting expensive. I do need to find something for my acne though. I've had pretty bad cystic acne on my cheeks for awhile now. Ugh.
SKINCARE-AM Neutrogena brightening cleaner Nip/Fab Glycolic toner pads(I cut these in half) CeraVe eye cream Hey Honey Good Morning serum Origins GinZing moisturizer(face) CeraVe PM moisturizer(neck) Biore Sunscreen
PM- Too Faced Mascara Melt Off Garnier Micellar Water Clarisonic AHA cleanser followed by Clarisonic brush CosRx BHA on days I don't use Clarisonic Bentons Snail Bee serum (I forget the name) CeraVe eye cream CeraVe PM moisturizer mixed with a face oil, Fresh Seaberry at the moment Marula Oil patted all over face/under eyes
My makeup has been pretty consistent lately as it's mostly my project pan stuff. I'm also trying to use up the CB this year so I'm mostly only using that plus a few other shades mixed in for variety.

My skincare routine just got a whole lot simpler with Curology.

PM - Garnier Micellar Water Soap & Glory face soap (will switch to Neutrogena) Curology Drunken Elephant B Hydra Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Cream
Makeup Tarte BB IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Powder Benefit Roller Lash mascara Eyeshadow, Blush, and Lips are random - UD, Cargo, BM, elf, Tarte.. I've been using the Smashbox Photo Op trio a lot lately.
These routines are impressive. I do well most days to remember to put on moisturizer and I rarely do anything with my face at night. That said, I need to make a change.

My routine is involved because I get a lot of pleasure out of it, but if I didn't, it would be quick! You don't need a lengthy routine for great skin. My suggestion for you is to start doing something every night. Does rarely doing anything with your face at night look like sleeping in makeup? If I were you, I'd start with an oil based cleanser to remove the make up, a gentle cleanser (double cleanse seems crazy but it is great! You can use what you use in the morning maybe?), and a nice thick night moisturizer.

I'll chime in with my simple routine:
Night: DIY eye makeup remover (baby oil, baby shampoo, water) Neutrogena Foaming Face wash with makeup remover
Morning: Cetaphil face wash Neutrogena face lotion with SPF30
I also just got the Olay Pro X cleansing brush I plan to use twice a week with Cetaphil
Makeup: UD Potion Primer TF born this way foundation Eyes - these days it's either TF Chocolate bon bons or LM eye art artist pallet. NYX felt tipped eyeliner. Revlon acceleration mascara Blush - Tarte Exposed most days Lips

What she said.
idahome, you definately do not need 100000 steps. I eased into this game a few years ago now starting with just doing an oil based cleanse at night, faithfully, every night. That alone made a pretty noticeable difference in my skin. (I don't have very easily clogged pores, so not having the 2nd step foaming cleanser was fine for me. your milage may vary) Then I added consistent moisturizer and sunscreen use (this was just olay spf 15 at the time). Then started wandering into skincare a bit more because my sister started selling Mary Kay and another friend started selling another skincare MLM and they both gifted me a bunch of stuff...and then got into the AB thread and it all ballooned from there. I just like smearing lotions and potions on myself. It feels nice. They usually smell good. It's like an at-home spa. The grownup version of my teen obsession with Bath and Body Works. But you definitely don't need 7 different products in a row morning and night. Cleanse (can be PM only), moisturize (AM & PM), sunscreen (AM only). Done.
If you wanted stateside products rather than AB - you could do something like the pixi balm cleanser, cera ve foaming cleanser, cera ve PM (also good for AM!), and...uhhh...sunscreen. the sunscreen part is where I kinda am at a loss on the western products. the japanese ones are just SO DAMN GOOD. And on amazon.

Morning Neutrogena foaming face wash Biore sunscreen (I think I'm going to add a light moisturizer)
Night Face shop oil cleanser Neutrogena foaming face wash Cosrx AHA Benton snail bee essence Red serum Nature Republic Lotus serum Face masks every other day Benton snail bee steam cream
Makeup Too faced hangover primer Loreal infallible pro matte (testing) of Tarte bb primer Bye bye under eye concealer NYX banana powder Becca luminous blush Tarte double duty highlight/contour Blinc amplified mascara
I've made a few changes in the last month, and I'm super happy with my routine these days. Here's what I'm using:
Morning:
Wash with Belif Chamomile cleaning stick Drunk Elephant day serum Drunk Elephant B-hydra on days I'm extra dehydrated. Either (1) Josie Maran SPF 45 moisturizer with Cover FX drops (most days) or (2) Maybelline Dream BB (less often). I need extra moisturizer with the BB cream, so I've been experimenting with adding face oils. So far, best result is the Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition booster
About once a week, I use the Ole Henricksen Walnut scrub and Fresh Rose mask before the cleaning stick.
Evening:
Remove eye make up with Pond's Oil cleanser - just started SkinFood Black Sugar a couple days ago. I really like it. Second cleanser - Drunk Elephant Pekee bar Usually either (1) Belif Aqua Bomb + Fresh Seaberry Oil or (2) Drunk Elephant B hydra + Belif Brightening Cream Cereve eye cream Bite Agave Lip Mask
About once a week, I add the Drunk Elephant Night Serum after cleaning and before the moisturizing step.
Here is what I consider the basics:
1. A product with SPF in the morning. You want physical, not chemical. Here's a post that explains it -
2. An oil based cleanser and a low PH regular cleanser. Use both in the evenings, and if you want, the regular in the morning.
3. Understanding the difference between dry skin (skin that lacks oil) and dehydrated skin (skin that lacks water), and treating your skin as appropriate. There are a lot of posts explaining this on the internet, here's a couple that might help.
AM: 1. I typically just splash with water - no cleanser 2. Toner - Caudalie Moisturizing toner 3. Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum 4. Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Gel 5. Josie Maran Moisturizer with SPF 47 mixed with a drop of Pai Rosehip Oil 6. Dr. Dennis Gross retinol eye serum
PM: 1. Oil cleanse - Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm 2. Second cleanse - either Pai Chamomile & Rose cleanser or First Aid Beauty cleanser & Lancome eye makeup remover 3. Toner - Caudalie Moisturizing toner 4. Drunk Elephant - TLC Framboos Serum 5. Pai Avocado & Jojoba Moisturizer (I just picked up the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped and am starting to use that tonight) 6. Dr. Dennis Gross retinol eye serum with a drop of Pai Rosehip oil patted on top 7. Bite Agave lip mask
I just recently stopped working in cosmetics and my face had been really broken out so I am playing around with different things.
AM: Clinique Acne Solutions Bar Soap
Makeup: Foundation: was using TIU24h and switched back to what was left of my Mary Kay Concealer: Maybelline dark spot remover (the one with the sponge thing on the end) Brows: Lancomes powder pencil Powder: Dual finish powder foundation Blush: whatever i find that day lol Lips: lancomes pencil lip liner and estee lauder lipstick Mascara: Grandiose extreme
PM: Cliniques Foaming Makeup Remover Acne solutions bar soap Bienfait Multi Vital Night Cream Visionairre Yeux eye cream
However, just today I started with the oil cleaning method with coconut oil so if it works my night skincare regime may change. I am trying to use up the products I have before purchasing new ones, so my makeup should stay the same for a while.
About two or three times a week I do a clay mask. I have a white clay mask that I dont know who it is by and an Ahava mud mask. I like both equally.
twice a week -Kate Somerville Exfolikate followed by Fresh Rose mask -Origins original skin retexturizing mask with rose clay followed by SR Luna & KS goat milk moisturizer

rhian, does your moisturiser have an SPF? If not, I'd add one (at least 30+). This is from a woman in her late 40s who wishes she had started wearing high SPFs every day sooner.

Workdays:
AM- charcoal face wash, moisturizer, Roc right now
Makeup-
Foundation- Ulta stick foundation
Powder- maybelline loose powder
Eyeshadow- I do a single NYX shadow, whatever color I feel that day, normally a nude.
Eyeliner- benefit around the clock
Mascara- better than sex
PM: ponds makeup remover wipe, garnier micellar water, charcoal face wash, Roc night cream
I do either a sheet mask or clay mask a few times a week.
My days off my makeup routine is different. I do a full face. I sweat or have to wash some kind of gross stuff off my face at work and after 12 hours, my makeup is pretty worn off. I don't usually have time to reapply.
