Where do you buy work pants?

I am interviewing to hopefully go back to work after a couple of years SAH. I need a work wardrobe but have no idea where to start.

Banana Republic, Gap (regular store or outlet mall), Nordstrom, JC Penney. I'm really short so these options have petites. I'm not back to my pre-baby weight so I picked up a couple pairs from JCP on Black Friday and one pair that's more of a tweed material held up really well but the thinner suit material pair has not. They were both super cheap so I still feel like I will get my money's worth.

I've gotten a lot of great blouses that don't need ironing from JCP in store and The Rack online.

I get almost all my pants at Van Heusen. They're one of the few places that fit well in length (I'm petite) - and they're reasonable! Otherwise, I mostly shop Ann Taylor (their pants are usually a little long for me though)

I get a lot of them at New York & Co. I am pretty tall, so I only have a few options for where to buy pants that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Express Editors is all I wear. I pair them with the Portofino shirt. Seriously, it is all I wear. I have a lot of different shirt colors and I switch up a scarf each day too.

I'm big into not thinking about what to put on.

Same! Going to an office environment after being at home with the baby 18 months and the previous 3 years at a job that required yoga pants 😳😳😳

I own very little that is appropriate and no pants that fit well.

Express Editor or Express Columnist. Literally all of my pants are these.

My standard answer was The Limited. But now they are going away so I'm searching for a new place.

I like INC brand from Macy's. they're stretchy and have an elastic waist but they look tailored. Seriously awesome for comfort and style.

Previously The Limited. Then I moved to Gap but I see they no longer sell the pants I liked. So sucks for me.

I used to have to wear Khakis or Khaki-style pants at a former job and would get several pairs at a time from Kohls. For dress/business pants I like LOFT, Banana Republic, and Macys. My local LOFTS usually seem to have a good stock of petites and regular.

What is the difference between Editor pants and the Columnist?  I have only owned Editor pants for the past 10-ish years and want to do something different.  I know I'm reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally branching out here.

Ditto. I love their Exact stretch pants. I wonder if Express has anything similar.

Same here! I loved the way my Gap pants fit and I haven't been able to find a replacement yet.

Same! They last so long! I wait until they are buy one get one 50% off or spend $250 get $75 off. I've had some pairs for 5 years and they are still in great condition!

Express editor. Believe it or not I've been getting them at Goodwill for $5-$10 depending on the color price tag markdown.

I have several pairs of these pants from uniqlo. They are cheap, hold up well, wash well, and are comfy (pull on, but made to look like they have a fly). They have other colors & patterns on the website that aren't on sale.

Dress Barn. I am short and curvy with short legs and I love Roz & Ali Secret Agent pants. Their short is actually short enough for me to wear with flats and not look ridiculous. (I normally have to wear pants with an ankle cut to make that happen, so it is marvelous!)

We have a Van Heusen outlet that I go to a lot. Only problem is I usually have to size up because they run tight in the legs. My other go to is JC Penny.

Express Editors are my favorite. They feel more substantial than my Limited or Loft pants. My pants from Loft pilled in the thigh area after two wears. I have leggings made from a dressier materials from NY&Co that are super comfy and I get a ton of compliments on them. Old Navy Pixie pants are another go to, but they're not really dressy. Also like Van Heusen.

Banana Republic is my go to. I love the sloan fit pants, the fabric has just enough stretch.

The Limited was the ONLY place I bought my pants. I could order the exact style and size online and they would always fit perfectly.

Kohl's has a decent variety of cuts and fits and good sales. Plus it's the only place to shop near us with parking.
