Do you kiss/hug your friends hello/goodbye?

Over this weekend I was dealing with my cold. At church, I saw at least seven or eight friends and I realized we all kiss/hug hello/goodbye.

I thought about it and I hug & kiss all of my friends and if I don't, they will kiss and hug me.

I wonder if this is a Mexican thing? I mean, greeting people and saying goodbye when leaving is a very big deal. If I don't personally say hello/goodbye to someone, especially my elders, I'll hear about it forever.

I hug but don't kiss. I have a few acquaintances that do the cheek air kiss; they're from Puerto Rico and Trinidad so it may be their social norm.

I hug almost all, but I cheek kiss a few that I don't see very often and tell them I love them. I think its because I never know when I will see them again.

I feel like it might be a regional/ethnic background thing.  
I'm a native New Yorker (of Eastern European descent, but grew up with mostly Italians)  We kiss hello/goodbye.  We don't hug so much. Always kissed family and friends upon hello/goodbye.  Hell we even kissed our coworkers sometimes--to say thank you for something or to wish happy bday/holiday or goodbye before a vacation etc.  

I'm now a resident of the south.  No one kisses here.  EVERYONE hugs.  It's not what I'm used to.

Hug hello or goodbye when I haven't seen someone in a while? Yes. Kiss? No. My British friends do the air-kiss and that took some time to get used to, but I have never done that here in the US.

I hug many friends, not all. I kiss My BFF, who does happen to be Mexican, lol, because that's how we are together. My family is Italian so agressive affection even from people who are basically strangers is normal.

Yup. Hug more than hug and kiss. There are a few friends who kiss as a hello/goodbye.

We hug hello and goodbye. DH and I have had the same group of friends since elementary school, so there are occasional (drunken) large group hugs, as well.

I am not a hugger. Pretty much everyone knows not to touch me without permission.

That said, I do hug family and close friends that I haven't seen in a long time.

It takes FOREVER to leave any family party because I have to kiss every single relative goodbye. Italian here.
