I woke up to about an inch of snow covered by lots of ice. Since I am off today I'm just being lazy. I may try a treadmill workout this afternoon. H went to work already but should be home by early afternoon. I'm going to wait for it to warm up a little more and go clean off my car. I need to rainx my windshield too.
I put a pork roast in the crockpot for pulled pork and it smells amazing already. I was planning of just putting it on top of baked sweet potatoes but might try to make pretzel rolls. I haven't baked anything in a few weeks so I'm itching to bake.
Also, we tried to change Gus's food and we apparently did it wrong, so now he's having tummy trouble. We started him on a bland diet last night, and he is not pleased that we've taken away his kibble.
It's only chilly this morning. We have a high of 80 today.
I officially turned in my resignation to my boss. It's a 30-day notice, to give them time to start trying to hire a replacement. I do feel bad that I'm leaving before the last week of the next schedule, so they'll have to cover 3 of my shifts.
wineandcheese - Yeah, and he's STILL not sleeping through the night! We're down to one wake up per night and he's letting us sleep until 7:00am on weekends, but there's still one wake up every night. We switched his food to see if it would keep him asleep, but now we have tummy trouble.

katespade lol they may. I had a dog growing up that was allergic to all dog food. We tried so many different ones. The only thing we could feed him was rice, chicken and broth. My mom would add chicken livers (ewwww) to make it extra mushy as he became older.
pooh8402 - Resigning is always so bittersweet. It's great that you're able to give such a long notice, though! I hope they're able to find a replacement for you by then.
Also, 80 degrees??? I'm so jealous! It's 27 degrees here right now (forecast says a high of 48 today, though, which isn't awful).
It is bittersweet. My current boss is fairly new, but I've known all my coworkers since I started working there 4.5 years ago. They supported me when we were going through infertility and IVF, and I've supported them through their trials. Quite a few of them were my nurses when I had E, and the LCs have seen my boobs more times than I care to admit, ha. I really hope that I've made lifelong friends here, although I do struggle with maintaining friendships.
I hate my hospital and would have left a long time ago, but for my coworkers. They've been amazing and I'm very very sad to leave them.
We haven't gotten mail in a week. It's the oddest thing. I don't know if we haven't had any (that seems weird, there is always junk it feels like), or if they're skipping our house, or if it's being stolen. All unlikely, but something is up.
pooh8402 30 days notice is great, but I can see why you feel bad about those extra shifts. Maybe they can hire a replacement by then to take them. My friend had a baby a month early and her husband is a nurse. He had pre asked for January off but then had to take the whole month of December off. I felt bad for whoever had to fix that schedule.
thanks amaranth! it is what it is, really. 30 day notice is more than enough for most industries, but when we set our schedules 2 months in advance, it doesn't seem like enough. and even if they hire someone tomorrow who begins hospital orientation next week, the new person would likely still be on orientation by the time my last day comes around. they'll likely fill in my shifts with our PRN folks, and will probably try to promote a night shift person, but most of those on night shift like it and want to stay there (weirdos ).
I also contacted a friend at the hospital I'm applying to. he is a neonatologist, so somewhat associated with L&D, but not super duper influential. he said he would put a bug in the ear of the L&D manager (it's been 2 weeks since my interview). thanks dude!!! I did tell him that I want to work NICU if I don't get L&D, so I'll likely work with him either way. yay, hope he's able to help. gotta use my network, right?

pooh8402 I hope you get into the department you want too.
I'm cooking tomorrow nights dinner while I work on tonight's. Let's see if H can handle putting in the bacon mac & cheese in the convection oven when I get out of work. I figured if I included bacon I would have a better chance lol. I'm not really sticking to my meal plan but trying to make life a little easier. The pan is large enough we can have leftover mac & cheese Thursday night with leftover pulled pork. Friday I may be lazy and pick up Chinese or pizza.
