DH texted earlier saying his boss is quitting. This is huge because she has been there 16 years. Hopefully it opens management's eyes...two of the department's top employees are leaving thanks to the new high up boss. The department is going to be hurting a lot...DH will have to pick up some while he's still there (her last day is in a month, so potentially almost 2 months of added work for him). We are both hoping he is our out of there sooner than later. It's time.
That's crazy, luv2rn4fun! It's so difficult to watch those types of changes happen to what was once a good department. BTDT. I hope your H is able to find a new job soon! How is his job search going?
Why don't managers call job candidates when they say they're going to? It's now close of business a week since my interview. She said I would know one way or the other "by end of [last] week or early [this] week."
There is no sugar in my house, and I don't know what to do with myself. No candy, fruit snacks, ice cream, soda... nothing. I know I'm not actually hungry because I've eaten two meals and three snacks today, but all I can think about is how much I want something sugary.
I had lab work done over a month ago, and I still haven't received results. I called on Friday, and they said I would get a call back on Monday. When that didn't happen, I called again this morning. They said I would get a call back today, which also didn't happen because I just called for a third time and my doctor is already gone for the day.
I just asked her how long I can expect a response to take, and she tried to lecture me about how it typically takes a week or two for lab results. I tried to be polite as I explained that it has been over a month, and I want to know how much longer I will be expected to wait for my results. She said I should get a call back tomorrow.
I really like this doctor. She's the best endocrinologist I've ever had when it comes to bedside manner and patient care during appointments. But this is also the second time this has happened. The last time I had lab work done it took multiple phone calls over more than a month for me to track down my results, which were abnormal. Also, it took nine months to get my last ultrasound results.
pooh8402 I hate that if it helps, the recruiter for my current job didn't call me when I thought she would so I went to a job fair. Ran into her there and she said she meant to call me but was running behind and I had gotten the job! Hopefully it's a similar situation for you!
katespade- I would not have been so polite and understanding. I usually have lab results in my patient portal by next day so waiting over a month seems ridiculous. I think I had to wait a week when we did all our testing for our losses (which was like 10 vials of blood).
Yes, totally frustrating and sad. Boss wants to take one of the employees with her and another wants to find a new job...so 4 people leaving and the group is only 8ish people.
Job search is slow but promising. He has 3- 4 recruiters working for him and 2 of them have decent positions...but no interviews so far so that's not a good sign. The biggest problem is his pay for his title. He even asked if he should just take a pay cut. I am ok with that if there is fast opportunity for a promotion...otherwise, more hours and less money doesn't seem worth it (although he has to do what he has to do because we have bills to pay and two little boys to feed).
Had a fun night out with friends tonight. We just walked around the mall like middle schoolers, giggling at silly underwear and admiring prom dresses. It was so stress free and needed. I convinced the others to buy thongs for valentines day because they all said their husbands love them, but they never wear them (they were 90 cents on clearance!). I was like, just put it on and initiate sex. I promise it won't be on for long. lol.
So, fun night. Now back to real life with dirty dishes and piles of laundry.
katespade that happens to me any time I give up sugar. It's the worst. I'll literally want to gnaw on things because I crave it so badly. I am certain I am legitimately addicted. It's easier to feed the addiction than to cut it out, but I know that is bad.
amaranth - It sucks! And it's not like I'm not eating sugar at all, I'm just trying to eat less of the most unhealthy foods. I mean, I had a bowl of Frosted Flakes this morning but I still can't stop thinking about getting my hands on some actual candy. LOL.
pooh8402 - Stupid paperwork. I guarantee someone is held up over a signature on a document on someone's desk. It happens to me on a daily basis SUPER frustrating for me as a recruiter...but the clinical or business people like to let stuff just hang out forever. Sorry, it's been such a pain waiting to hear back from them.
luv2rn4fun I want to encourage you guys to keep looking for better opportunities. I know I'm preaching to the choir. We had high-ups and MULTIPLE people leaving at my last employer. The new VP of HR couldn't care less. We were just bodies to her. If she thought there wouldn't be mutiny, she probably would have verbalized that. Some companies just don't care when mass amounts of people leave.
Enjoying the warmer weather even if it's coming with rain. It's actually kind of nice right now.
MrsMB- yeah, he has no choice but to look. They gave him an end date with a severance package (they offered him a different position first but he doesn't want that role, especially with the drive). He's working really hard to find something and We are hopeful he won't be without a job.
It's funny because this company prides itself on work life balance and just got awarded one of the best companies to work for. But this new CFO comes in and none of that applies to their department now. Someone even over heard her asking the recruiter if a candidate had kids...so basically, she doesn't want someone with kids and that's why DH is being forced out of his role (even though he works a good 1 hr OT every day and does work from home when needed).

Ah, so this is why they offered him a severance package. So he can't sue them for discrimination, which is exactly what's happening.

Yep 😀 other boss has twins so she's likely next up...good thing she's leaving too. I hope they both leave around the same time and the department visibly fails so management can see that they lost a good thing. Manager decided to leave after she found out DH was leaving...i think it was eye opening for her to see what was going on and that things are only going to get worse.
