I made a new black friend!

I went to my meet up group brunch last weekend.
There was a new lady there that I think we're soul mates...
She has natural hair and a nose ring like me and is a scientist. She also works out regularly and is really in to trying new restaurants like me. In talking we both played the saxophone growing up, so many coincidences. I didn't want to be a weirdo so I contained my excitement.

But she mentioned she just moved to the area a few months ago and didn't have a lot of friends. Plus she doesn't live too far from me. So I gave her my number at the end of brunch.

My boyfriend had this big event and birthday party last night so I invited her. She had a great time! There was lots of people there and she was mingling and I was glad I didn't feel like I had to babysit her to make her feel included. She also made friends with one of my boyfriend's friends and we're planning to have brunch together in the near future. Wahoo.
