I know a few people on CEP have talked about this, but has anyone here thought about it. School board/local/state anything?
The thought has crossed my mind, but I have no idea how I would make it work. I also don't think I have the personality for it. I have no poker face. I definitely think there needs to be more minorities and especially minority women involved in our system.

I have thought of it, and given that I have NO INTEREST in actually *being* a politician I think that says a lot. Also, I actually really love my job and worked hard to get where I am so I couldn't do anything that I couldn't do "on the side" which is not much. I am going to more Parent Advisory Committee and School Board meetings, and figure if the people on the current school board turn out to be idiots maybe I will run. My (internet) friend in NC signed up with an organization designed to help women run for office (www.sheshouldrun.org) and I am cheerleading her. :-)

I thought about it when my town house complex ask someone to join the board...I don't know if that's exactly political but I decided not because pressure makes me nervous.
I'm involved with politics, by being an influencer on the fundraising and social services side of our city government, and education guilds.
I was offered backing and funding to run for office (School Board) a few years ago, but I'm not interested in negative campaigns, and how it can impact my family.
I much prefer appointed positions, and committees so I can stay out of the papers. I reserve my public persona for philanthropic endeavors.
I have had a few people tell me I should run for school board, but they have no money or power (lol) so that means nothing really.

Never crossed my mind. I know there is an organization called Emerge that helps groom you to be involved in politics. I have a girlfriend who is very politically active and she was involved with them.
Our local politics are messy and expensive. I don't have the resources to break into them. I'm also pretty sure that I have too many skeletons in my closet.

No. I've been asked by someone who was trying to scout potential "new blood," but I have ZERO interest in being an elected official. I've worked around them for too long, and I can't devote that much of my life to being constantly on call.
Instead, I befriend politicians through work and provide "trusted input." *grins*
I think about it ever so often on the medical side of things when I see pictures of old men pop up in my emails. But then I come to my senses and know it's not for me.
I am a part of 2 organizations that meet with legislators so that's about as close as I'll get.
you should! I've also considered starting a church.
OMG I am stiffling a laugh so hard right now.
I don't like people and that is noticed pretty quickly. So it is probably not for me.
I say it enough that I might actually do it one day. My mom said she'll disown me if I try, but we'll see what tune she's singing when those checks start rolling in. She knows she wants to be the wise old church mother.
