Anyone have book recs for career advancement? Better if they are specifically tailored for black/non-white women. I was thinking about reading Lean In, but I don't really have an issue there. I lean in all the time. It is just a matter of getting recognition for my actions. I am also not a networker by nature and I need to figure out how to change that or I am going to be stuck in this place, bored for too long.
There's a book written by 3 sister I read about 10 years ago I found helpful..I will post once I recall..I do believe while WOC face certain challenges unlike our white counterparts that there is still value in books written with a focus on women advancement.
Are you seeking to advance to another role, mgt or obtain more pay?

Right now advancement for me is test based. But once I get to the next level it is more interview, experience based. The problem is the only way to get that experience is to make connections now to get into specialized roles. Despite the fact that I tested very well and am very good at my job, I don't have those connections. I feel like my job more than many others is who you know and who likes you. Since it is mostly white males in higher positions, like picks like. So I guess I need to learn how to schmooze. The thing is what I see working for white women here, I don't have, so I need another angle.
