I'm not feeling creative. We're having friends over for dinner tomorrow night. I could do rotisserie chicken (homemade), meatloaf, venison tenderloin (I know they'd eat it), or....something else. The dinner they made us last time was amazing, and I'm feeling like nothing I make is that great.
We just had dinner at a friend's house and they made a very simple, yet super delicious, meal. A roast beef with au jus, homemade mashed potatoes and sauteed broccoli. Amazing. (There were 6 adults, and for the 8 kids they also made chicken nuggets and sweet potato fries.)
Venison could be fun because it's not something you eat every day. My mom gave me a recipe for a KILLER red wine cause that goes great with venison or beef tenderloin. It's amazing. I could probably dig it up. It's not a lot of work.
if you want to make it "special" do a fancy potato like a gratin or something. I love the Julia Child recipe.
Maybe venison? Our friend had a venison party (lol) and it was fun; most of us do not hunt so it was a novelty.
Also: how are you making a rotisserie chicken at home?! What did they serve you before?
My MIL got me a rotisserie for Christmas one year after I told her how much I love the ones at the grocery store. Of course, part of the reason I love them is because I don't have to make them, lol.
They made us some kind of smoked beef, I can't remember the cut, prosciutto wrapped asparagus and corn casserole. It was all delicious. Neither have or I are great cooks.

Last week for my grandmother-in-law's birthday I threw together a cauliflower gratin that had the family going crazy. Grandma loves cauliflower but I also had little kids to feed so I decided on cheese! I made a made a thicker béchamel with a little nutmeg and added sharp cheddar and Parmesan. I plopped it over steamed cauliflower and added buttered panko and baked it and then broiled the top. It was really delicious and easy and we served it with meatloaf and roasted Yukon golds.
