My hairdresser has suggested putting a little bit of liquid fabric softener in a spray bottle with water.
I usually shower at night and in the morning spritz some of the fabric softener mixture on my hair until slightly damp, blow dry, and it really cuts down on my static!
I think I did a mixture of 1/4 fabric softener and 3/4 water.
I recently picked up a really light oil kind of spray to try on shorti because her hair is super static prone, but I keep forgetting to use it. Shea Moisture rose something or other. I'll try to remember to actually spray it on my child and let you know how it does.

I noticed that my hair brush and comb increase the static in my hair. When the static gets bad, I spray the brush and comb with Static Guard and let it dry before using them on my hair.

Yeah, my first thought was to get a hair oil. A drop or two of oil after washing, and carry an oil spray around.
