What are the hours for the new job? Now that I rethink it, One hour or two including bath, dinner and transit arent worth it. That is 30 minutes of playtime, etc. and if she is tired, like you said, you might miss that 30 min.
The new job would be 8 - 6 and is about 5 minutes away from my ILs (who provide childcare) and 10 minutes closer to our house. So if I get out on time, I would be able to pick her up and be home by 6:30 pm. My job now is 8 -8 and farther away so I end up getting home around 8:45.
I have a kid who goes to bed by seven every night so it just wouldn't make sense for me.
Could you do 10am-6pm?
Working 8-6 instead of 8-8 for the same number of days a week would just not be worth losing $60K IMO.
Your current schedule already sounds like a dream to me, I would not change it for this opportunity and the $60K in lost salary. How old is your DD again?
DS is 15mos and he goes to bed by 7pm every night. If I get out of work by 5pm on the dot, I get to pick him up from daycare by 5:40pm and we have a 10 minute ride home from there. By the time he finsihes eating dinner, it's bath time and then off to bed. It is time spent with DS but it's not exactly all fun and games IMO.
This is coming from someone who just went back to work after being a SAHM for 14.5mos. I would wait for another opportunity. Trust me, there will always be more.
She goes to bed at 8 right now. But a couple times lately she has only taken one nap and then gone to bed at 7.
It would be worth it to me to take the cut, especially since you said you can afford it. (plus your husband will be changing his schedule & getting a raise which lessens the impact of your pay cut)
At our house we can fit dinner, playtime & bath into 1.5 hours...all of these are fun for DS which make them fun for me too.
I don't remember how much you make although I know it's a good amount. I wouldn't change jobs unless it was under a 25% pay cut. If it is, I would change because those 2 hours are priceless!

DD will be 11 months old on the 17th. I was leaning towards taking the new job, but after talking some more with DH I think I may be leaning toward staying where I'm at. He might still take the other job with the 3 12s and then we would have 4 full days at home as a family and be making more money. The thought is we could bank a ton of money now and then when DD and DC #2 get older and start school, I could cut back to maybe just two days a week (or a different job altogether maybe doing like 8 -2 or something). It is nice to have choices, but I'm so worried about making the wrong one!

It sounds like you guys have some great options, plus 4 full days as a family would be awesome!
DH did some locums work when DS was 1.5-2.5 yrs old. We were together a bit less as a family, but we saved a lot and paid down our SLs a lot. And at that age it didn't seem to bother DS too much, so I'm definitely of the mentality to save up now and work less later
