Do you think a child should wear a helmet if riding a three wheeled scooter? DD learned to ride a scooter at school yesterday. They rode it inside the gym. Since she's standing on it and pedaling, she obviously isn't going fast. I didn't even think about whether or not she wore a helmet until K asked me if she did.
It's clearly not an especially dangerous activity, but I'm pro-helmet just for getting kids in the habit and making it seem normal, so when JB rides two wheeled scooters or bikes she knows to wear a helment.

Yes, our daycare used their own helmets until this week (a parent complained about hygiene), but we are requested to bring in helmets even though the children primarily ride their tricycles on a very soft surface.
I like the way Little Man's buddy K thinks! *HUGE SMILE*
I probably wouldn't think anything of it without, but probably is a good habit to get into. I never even owned a helmet as a kid/teen, but times have changed and our kids definitely will. Will

This.
It's actually pretty neat to have DS and DD point out when they see pictures in books of characters riding bicycles without helmets. Such a shift from when I grew up.

Yes, I'm all about helmets. We wear them when we ride our bikes and my wife wears one when she rides her motorcycle, and he points them out all the time. He points them out all the time and likes to wear his (he has one for actually riding his bike and a few others for play only). He even pointed out a little girl who WASN'T wearing one on her bicycle when we went on a walk the other day.
Thanks ladies! DD has a helmet that she wears when riding her tricycle. I just hadn't thought about a scooter, and one at school before. Turns out school does not have a helmet. I think I'll buy one and donate it to the school so all the kids have access to it if riding the scooter.
