Skipping the 9/11 moment of silence on Tuesday wasn't a good idea, NBC.
While President Barack Obama and the First Lady led the moment from the White House, with millions of Americans tuning in, the TODAY show decided to forgo the remembrance and instead aired an interview with Keeping Up With The Kardashians matriarch Kris Jenner, who spoke about her breast implants — leaving the public in an outrage.
Even though NBC is sticking by their decision not to acknowledge the moment of silence, many viewers have changed the channel and are even calling for a boycott of the popular morning show.
The public is using social media as a means to dissuade people from watching TODAY by writing things such as:
""BOYCOTT! @nbc be ashamed!"
"Because she's so much more important than those who lost their lives. Boycott this dung heap station."
"The Today Show chose to continue their interview with Kris Jenner rather than participate in a 9.11 moment of silence. #DISGUSTING."

"In other news, I am also glad I quit watching the Today Show months ago. A Kardashian/Jenner over America? Wow."
And it's not just viewers who think it was a bad move for NBC to skip the moment of silence, crisis communications expert Glenn Selig says this incident will likely cause a further drop in the show's already plunging ratings.
“This was clearly a mistake, intentional or not. Given the raw feelings so many still have about 9/11, it was clearly disrespectful to not only avert coverage, but to supplement its programming airwaves with a reality show star Kris Jenner," he told FoxNews.
"To some Americans, this move will be perceived as being no different than not standing during the pledge of allegiance, or neglecting to remove your hat during the national anthem. It will seem disrespectful and un-American. Many will see the move as not only in poor taste but terrible taste. TODAY should have had the foresight to know that there would be a huge backlash.â€
I read somewhere yesterday that said that NBC did put it in when it aired on the west coast but I'm not positive if that's right.
I really do not get this. The other morning shows (including CNN and Fox) aired it. Who in their right mind thought that not airing that was a smart idea. It is like the Today Show wants to make sure that no one thinks they are a news show. I used to love the Today Show - watched it in high school and college - but it sucks now.
I love how in the middle of this article about how the Today show focused on trivial things when they should have focused on something serious is a link for "Stars Who Look Like Other Stars".
I think it was a stupid decision on the part of NBC.
However, I'm not sure I'd think it was AS stupid if they weren't airing an interview with a freaking Kardashian!! I hate them all SO much, I have NO idea why they continue to be so popular (other than people can't look away). It is like NBC purposely chose to air the exact opposite of the 9/11 moment of silence:completely trashtastic anti-news.

NBC should have just apologized rather than defend it with platitudes about covering 9/11 earlier in the show. Either say that its time to move on and own it or own the mistake.

The Today show super sucks. I can't standing watching Lauer's smug face. He gives me the heebie jeebies. I mean, really. . . the Kardashians?!
I love Gayle King on CBS, and I like the ABC morning shows too. The CBS show cracks me up, because I love when Charlie Rose is trying to ask deep questions on ridiculous topics.
However, I'm not sure I'd think it was AS stupid if they weren't airing an interview with a freaking Kardashian!!
This. TOday has some kind of love affair w/ the Kardashian's, and I'm not sure why. It's one of the reasons we've watched them less and less. CBS tends to be where I go now.
