We are thinking of hosting a game night and have no idea what games to have. Every time we go someone it seems to be cards against humanity, which is fun, but looking for more ideas. We really only have kids games at the moment. As funny as it may be, I do not want to get out the twister mat for the party TIA!

We used to have poker nights ($5 or $10 buy in) with my BIL. We have World Series of Yaztee which is fun too. If they have video games Mario Kart always brings out some colorful commentary.

My friends are obsessed with Secret Hitler lately. You have to have 5-10 players and the creators describe it as a "social deduction" game. It's like a more complex, more lively, and more fun game of Clue without a board. You have to figure out which of your friends are lying liars. ;-p

My team at work has been playing Mole Rats in Space for "team building" this week. It's surprisingly fun, even though it's geared towards kids (7+). It's a cooperative game, so you either all win or all lose. For 2-4 players.
ETA: ok so I googled and I don't know if I'm smart enough for that game.
Ha, it's totally easy to catch on to after the first game. There is a lot of shouting and conniving! Friends that you thought were sweet turn out to be the sneakiest!
Telestrations! So fun... mix of adult pictionary and whisper down the lane
This looks so fun! Getting it! Do you have the 8-player or 12-player version?
I just realized the adult version is Telestrations After Dark, which is for 8 players. You each need a booklet to play so if it's for 8 players, it's the max.

Gotcha! I think I'll start with the regular version and see if I can get a range of ages to play! Thanks!
If people are drinking I highly recommend paper telephone. Give everyone one sheet of paper for each player (8 people=8 sheets). Everyone writes down a phrase and passes the paper to the right. The player on the right looks at the phrase, puts the paper on the bottom of the pile and then draws the phrase. Everyone again shifts the paper to the right, looks at the drawing, shifts the paper to the bottom and then writes the phrase they think is represented by the drawing. Continue around until you get our original phrase. Read out loud. Laugh. Laugh especially hard if everyone is drunk.
Low-strategy games, more social party games: Scattergories, Taboo, catchphrase, cranium, telestrations, wits and wagers
High-stragety games: Settlers of Catan (this one has TONS of expansions, and there's even a Settlers of America), Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Wizard (this is similar to hearts or spades, but more fun in my opinion).
When my MIL comes to visit, we play games almost the entire time she's here. We're huge Catan fans.
