Does anyone know if Ritalin and Prozac are available in S. Korea?
I looked it up and have discovered that travelers are allowed to bring in the specific number of pills required for their stay, with proper documentation. But this would be for a relocation so the prescription would actually have to be filled and renewed in Korea. Is that possible to do?
I don't know about those drugs in particular but in theory you can take a US Rx to a doctor here and they'll rewrite it for a Korean pharmacy. BUT my experience has been that the doctors will want to reassess why you're on a med and write a Rx for whatever they want you to be on. In my DH's case he got the same drug no problem. But for my son they treat his issue (asthma) differently and it's been extremely frustrating. I stockpiled Ativan, a Rx muscle relaxer and some pain pills so I didn't have to get them refilled here, but I know that's difficult, if not impossible, for meds people take regularly because the quantities are too big to fill in the US.
ETA: if you have concerns about being able to find a specific brand (because I don't know if it has the same name here) ask the relocation company to find this out for you. Also you can call these people and ask. I don't know if they'll be able to tell you but they speak English so it's worth a shot. www.schmc.ac.kr/seoul/international/index.do
When I had this issue living in Russia, I was able to get an exception from our health insurance to fill a one year prescription (basically my prescription and all refills) in the US and take them with me. It did mean that each year on home leave I had to go to the doctor and it it refilled and do the exemption process with the insurance company again. But this was pre-ACA and Russia wasn't that stringent.

I don't know about getting meds into South Korea specifically, but if you have an rx you can order drugs online from Canadian pharmacies. They only ship to the country of the prescribing dr, but I don't see why they couldn't be forwarded if your dr is in the US.
