Hi everyone.
This weekend I finally got around to cleaning up my space, and turned it from a "crap room" into a craft room!
I'd purchased some slat/peg board squares (Recollections brand) well over a year ago in preparation for this time.
I'd painted them a lovely shade of turquoise and finally mounted them yesterday. I hadn't bought pegs or hooks at the time, and went out hunting today. NOPE. Apparently this item and the hooks are no longer available anywhere, and standard peg hooks just fall out because the holes are too big. I tried MacGyver-ing solutions with twist tie and zip ties, but it's just not meant to be.
I'm waving the white flag of defeat and and going in the standard pegboard direction. I'd love to frame a pegboard, because Pinterest insists this is something I must do. But framing costs for a sizable pegboard (I'm looking at a 48x96 piece) are quite prohibitive.
My craft room/area is in the basement. It was the previous owner's workshop. Most of two walls are pegboard... From floor to ceiling. It's original brown, but very handy, I like it!
I'm also no help to you though. ;-) Sorry they discontinued your style of board and derailed your plans.
What a bummer about the line being discontinued! How frustrating.
Like lacey showed, I would frame it with moulding myself. They can possibly even make the cuts for you at Home Depot. I think they have scrap pieces of moulding there, various lengths that you can dig through (but I'm not sure on that). I think that could help keep the price down.
I hope you post After pictures. It sounds so cool!
We have a large peg board in DH's basement workshop --- great organizer!
In my early married days, we rented an apartment that had a tiny-tiny kitchen I installed a peg board (painted it a bright color) which saved the day with all the storage it provided.
The container store elfa pegboards have those longer slots similar to what you posted. I wonder if their hooks would work for you? BlondeSpiders
Thanks for the tip! I may take the pegs and baskets I've already purchased to a Container Store and see if they fit. The slots are pretty narrow, but you never know.

Would s hooks work for you? I know I bought a ton from IKEA for various things over the years.
My dad always used pegboard to store his tools...and OCD as he is, he traced each one so he know its home (or what was missing if someone borrowed one). I don't recommend that strategy - people thought he was a loon!
