I have really made it a goal to start taking really good care of my skin this year. I've started to use Retin-A and everything I read says to wait about 20 min after washing to apply. Then wait another 20 min to apply serums and moisturizers. I think I've been doing this wrong my whole life lol :/. I used to wash my face, immediately apply serums, immediately apply night cream or daytime SPF moisturizer, then finish with eye cream. I did one right after another; bam bam bam. Now I'm reading that I should wait in between applications? Do you do this? My skin feels so tight after I wash; I'm fighting every urge not to slather on my creams. What's your routine?
Also, does anyone use Obagi Nu-Derm Exfoderm #4? A friend highly rec'd this to me, to use in the morning after I use Retin-A. I ordered some and am curious to see how well it works. My goal are anti-aging/prevent lines and wrinkles and minimize pores, especially on my nose.
You only need to wait after actives (retinol, Vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs). Everything else can on with no wait times. The post-cleansing wait time only applies if you're using a high pH cleanser. If you use a lower pH cleanser or a pH balancing toner, then no need to wait after washing.

I've heard with Retinol products you need to wait twenty minutes to make sure your skin is fully dry. If your skin is damp at all while applying retinol it can penetrate too deeply into your skin and cause irritation.

Another Retin A question- after I apply, should I follow with serums/moisturizer? Or does the RA loose effectiveness? My skin has now become used to it. I'm using every other night and am no longer peeling.
