I am so in love with Wed night tv. So many great shows to watch and so much melanin. These ladies are doing it! I watched the first few episodes of Shots Fired and it is very good. I told you guys about the job I interviewed for a few weeks ago and I got accepted into the pool. When/if there are openings they place the people from the pool in those openings. So as close as I can get to actually having a job. Go me! Who knows what will happen. I am just glad that someone read my resume and thought highly of me to bring me in and then I was able to successfully interview with four people. Spring is officially here and I am so glad to drink in the sunshine!
I am so frustrated with schools for DD. Why couldn't this damn child have been born on time. 2 days is killing me. I even went to as far as emailing the principal of one school. Here response was confusing as fuck and I can't tell if they are willing to accept DD or not. I had a co-worker who used to have kids in the school tell H that we should go to another person who had kids in the school and his wife teaches there to get them to pull some strings. I just don't think I can do that. And then I started thinking that a white person would have no issue doing that for their kid. I just don't want to be seen as that parent. Who knew that this process would be so hard? LOL
She misses the cutoff by two days? Ugh. Mine is at the end of Sept so I get the frustration. Def do what you can and get those strings pulled. Pretend you are entitled for once 🙄

I was talking to my neighbor yesterday and their kid is also 3 with a September 20 birthday. They have him in a DC private now, but I think they were planning on moving him to MD. They thought the cutoff was September 30 like DC and VA. Unfortunately I burst their bubble yesterday and they were not too happy. It is so arbitrary. When I was a kid in the same state it was December 31, then October 15, then September 30, now September 1. I don't get it.
I know dates are there for a reason but they could at least try to keep the date the same in the DMV area since there is so much movement. It's so strange. I would really try and push it. Especially when we're talking about days!!
On one hand today was great, my friend with cancer is kicking it in the butt and taking names. She is doing so so well, with no real effects from the chemo, except some tiredness from time to time and minor neuropathy. We even did a 5K together (walking of course).
@@@@@@@ (loss mentioned)
On the other hand, today sucked. A friend had a second loss, and I was there when it started. I'm happy I was able to be there for her, but when they texted me to confirm it, my heart sank.
There is a med student (White male) that stares off in to space during every lecture we have. Acts the most uninterested, like he would rather be anywhere else. Stares in the opposite direction. It's so weird and I wish I could say something to him. It made me think of the quote "have the confidence of a mediocre white man" because I can never imagine sitting through lectures as a med student acting uninterested.

Maybe he really is uninterested and daddy made him be a med student. That is one field where I think you need to be paying all the attention.
At orangeblossom such highs and lows. Sorry about the loss and thrilled for the good health. They are lucky to have you in their corner. divanerd hope you got to enjoy some of your trip. Feel better soon. kicks If med school bores you, you should definitely find another field. Yikes!

My career has somehow gone from manufacturing to training to software support and now appears to be heading in the direction of elearning and graphic design. I have no idea how my degree in biology got me here.
But if you have a suggestion on a good mouse to do photo editing, that would be appreciated.

H started chemo this week. Like orangeblossom's friend, it hasn't bad as bad as we were anticipating. He's had some minor temperature sensitivity (can't eat/touch anything too hot or too cold), and whatever nausea was present was managed by his meds. It may catch up to him after more treatments, though.

I'm happy his treatment wasn't as bad as you were anticipating. Hopefully, it will continue this way. I think another thing that's helped my friend, is that she is able to take Neulasta (helps prevent infections) and hasn't had any infections to deal with.

I'm sorry I didn't realize your H was undergoing chemo. I hope that the treatment continues to not have too many side effects to him. Much love to your family.

So sorry that you are dealing with this. I wish you all strength during this time. Sending lots of good vibes your way.
This is random but I'm proud that I actually retwisted my whole head! I'm lazy and I usually only do the front portion, but last night I did all of them.
And my locs feel much softer now that I don't use any loc gel or creams. Just water and coconut oil.

Shots fired is filmed in a neighborhood in Concord, NC. Lots of the students I used to work with live in that neighborhood. It was NOT a good thing for them for that show to be filmed there. I really feel like they exploited some of those people. The things they use to ask the kids (well, high schoolers to do) were really inappropriate. "Show us what it looks like when you and your friends get high, where do you get the drugs from, do y'all get along with people from other neighborhoods, where are the addicts-can you get them to walk by while we are filming", etc.
Ugh. Definitely sounds like they exploited the. So inappropriate.

Wth??? That is crazy. How could they even think that is ok. Ugh. I am horrified.

1. I love learning about different cultures. My friend is Hmong (Asian ethnicity) and her grandmother passed away. I went to part of the services today. It's 24/7 for three days. So many traditions and food. Lots of food and goodies. I was happy I was there for my friend, and learned something at the same time.
2. I cannot seem to find of my favorite Easter Candy's in the store, but I did find it online. I'm not sure if I'm pressed enough to order them, but happy to see they still make them.
3. I have never loved anything enough, that I would have to make a wooden stake on my truck, to hang a gigantic confederate flag. I just saw this while I was out. I don't get it, displaying a huge flag on your truck, no matter what the flag is, but one, that show's hatred and ignorance... Why? I'm sure it's because in general they don't care what people think, but it looks stupid.

Already starting the weekend off with an attitude courtesy of MIL.
1. Don't send me a non-emergency text at 2AM. 2. Do not send me a text asking to check on a recall you saw that DH may use. Last I checked, he's capable of doing it himself. 3. Do not book your damn flights without talking to us first, and definitely don't do it for a week. WTH. We were expecting the weekend, and even then let us know dates ahead of time to see if we're free.
I hope you ladies have s less aggravating start to the weekend than me. Have a good weekend!
My brother, his wife, and his other friend from Atl are going to the semi pro baseball game in town tomorrow. I've never been so I'm happy to be getting out and enjoying the weather. Hopefully my allergies won't kill me.
Ooh, the baseball game sounds fun. I hope your allergies don't act up.
There's a reason we don't visit for a week, even when we do visit. I was mildly annoyed when she just told DH what day she was coming in for my graduation. He didn't know what day she was leaving. Mildly annoyed went to all the way pissed when I saw it was for a week. I told DH, I sure hope he plans on being home a lot.

I didn't realize you had such a large weight right now.

I wish I had words to get you through the week.
We're on the opposite end. We just had a GLORIOUS, PEACEFUL week while my mom was visiting my sisters. She's home now and I was really praying for her to decide to stay permanently.

Yay for a peaceful week! Hope it continues to be peaceful with her back.
ETA: LOL. Thank you. There are no words to get me through the week. I won't even have school to fall back on as an excuse.
I finally got my mom's house settled. Didn't get a new job I wanted. Headed to Miami in the morning. Had the carpet pulled up and the floors done and in my house and it looks marvelous. Am almost back to no debt other than the house note . My hair is finally strong and growing back (it fell out in the crown area when I was in the hospital with my mom and it apparently took a lot of regrowth cycles for it to snap back). My iron stores and iron saturation rates are low, which contributes to hair loss, being tired all of the time, depression etc. Back on my anti-anxiety meds and feel so much better.
You've been a busy lady! I'm sorry about the job but happy for the rest!
Take care of yourself. (I'm preaching and need to follow my own advice since I've got so much on my plate). My hair is so dry lately but I always think I've got bigger things that need my attention right now. Sigh.
