I had an amazing month! I normally read 1-3 books a month, at the most 4. It's been a good start to the year with books.
We finished reading the awesome version of HP #1 with beautiful illustrations, we'd gotten the first two from Costco for the boys for Christmas (whispers: it's also my first time reading them) 5* The Leftovers by Tom Perotta 2* Eligible by Curtis Sittenfield 4* The Best Man by Kristan Higgins 3* (my first e-book read) From Potters Field by Patricia Cornwell 4* Homegoing 4* Hot Rocks by Nora Roberts 4* as a vacation read

I didn't feel like anything I read was really great or really bad. I'm already 2 books in for April, so hopefully something better will come up this month!
I actually read more in March than I thought I did because I was stuck on a few I didn't love, but a few of the books were books I had been reading for awhile but kept putting aside as a library hold came in.

I had a really good March. Much better than normal and I caught up on my reading goal for the year as well.
Summer Sisters - Judy Blume *** The Ocean at the End of the Lane - Neil Gaiman *** The Boston Girl - Anita Diamant ** The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo - Amy Schumer *** A Dance with Dragons - George RR Martin *** The Daring Ladies of Lowell - Kate Alcott *** Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead - Sheryl Sandberg ****
ufcasey - I am reading Still Life right now, it started off rather slow but I am really like it now. It makes me want to curl up in front of a fireplace (which I do not have) with a cup of tea lol.
The second book in the series has even better reviews so I am excited to read that.
I read a lot of sexy-time books in March. But the fluff definitely helped me up my numbers for the year so far!
Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt - 5* Reflected in You (Crossfire 2) by Sylvia Day - 4* Against the Ropes by Sarah Castile - 3* Entwined with You (Crossfire 3) by Sylvia Day - 3* Captivated by You (Crossfire 4) by Sylvia Day - 3* Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance - 4*
Wow, I didn't realize I blew through so much in March. Frozen Tides (Falling Kingdoms #4) by Morgan Rhodes 5* Crystal Storm (Falling Kingoms #5) by Morgan Rhodes 5* Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham 4* Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys 4* Dirty (Dive Bar #1) by Kylie Scott 4* Like a River Glorious (The Gold Seer #2) by Rae Carson 3* The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (Coincidence #1) by Jessica Sorenson 2* Too Late by Colleen Hoover 2* Silence Fallen (Mercy #10) by Patricia Briggs 4* The Passage by Justin Cronin 4* Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) by Darynda Jones 4* Highlander Untamed by Monica McCarty 2*

I almost got this at the library, then I saw how thick it was and put it back lol

Which redemption road, which author?
I didn't know there was more than one. It's a mystery by John Hart.

Yup I added the second book to my TBR-soon pile too! We'll have to compare notes!
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson - she's a good writer, and the premise of this book was good, but the ending was lame and it was way too long
The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - loved the first 95% of the book, but hated the ending and was iffy on the writing style
Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by JD Vance - this was interesting, but the more I think about, the more I think that Vance is probably a huge asshole and the more annoyed I am about how much he glossed over.
Two Stars:
Room by Emma Donoghue - I hated it, but I didn't. The story was interesting, but I had a LOT of issues with how the story was presented.

The Alienist -- Caleb Carr *** Tall Tail -- Rita Mae & Sneaky Pie Brown **** The Bee's Kiss -- Barbara Cleverly **** A Murder at Carlton House -- Ashley Gardner ***** Chocolate Pomegranate Glaze Murder -- Susan Gillard ** Rikki-Tikki-Tavi -- Rudyard Kipling ***
Everyone else I know loved The Alienist, but I really did not enjoy it. It was well-written but I did not like the story or the characters. I loved A Murder at Carlton House, finished it in less than 24 hours, but then Captain Lacey and Lord Grenville are some of my favorite characters.
I've read 17 of my goal of 48 books, though a few are Kindle Freebie short-stories/novellas, so I feel like I've cheated a bit with those. Goodreads says I'm 5 books ahead of schedule. And I have collected 13 of 40 properties for the Monopoly Challenge. I feel like I'm behind, though I know objectively I am not.
Beyond the Ties of Blood **** The Nutmeg Tree **** Way Station **** Cress **** Winter **** Mila 18 **** Flowertown *** The Secret Wife **** From Sand and Ash **** Kitchens of the Great Midwest **** The Zookeeper's Wife *** Serena **** No One is Here Except All of Us **
