Hello! I have not posted on this board in approximately forever. I've been getting back on the H&F bandwagon recently. After losing over 100lbs a couple of years ago and then regaining it after kid/work/life/stress/excuses, I'm finally refocusing and seeing progress. Mostly I've been focusing on diet at the moment and going to begin adding back exercise. So far I've lost 10lbs! Woot!
Anyhow, I remember when I first started losing weight years ago I really got into reading H&F books and blogs to give me ideas, inspiration, tips, etc. I'm just wondering what's the latest and greatest out there... new books, blogs, etc?
I just finished Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes. Probably not helpful at this stage unless you're REALLY planning on going all in.
That being said, I really enjoyed it.
That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about! I read the Scott Jurek book eons ago, and that other book that sparked the barefoot running trend, and one by a woman who did Ironmans (Chrissy something maybe?).
I am by no means going to run an ultra probably ever, but just that kind of thing is inspiring and somewhat seemed to help my brain get committed and focused.
Not exactly H&F (or all that recent, 2012) but I really liked it and found it inspirational. It's a story about a woman who hiked the Pacific Crest Trail. Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail Book by Cheryl Strayed

I loved reading about her time on the trail but I found her absolutely insufferable. Like would yell things at my kindle while reading. (Just as a fair warning, ymmv kind of thing.). I did actually find it inspirational in that of this hopeless special snowflake emotional basket case can do THAT then I can do anything I want.

Slaying the Dragon by Michael Johnson. That was a very influential book for me as a runner.
Maybe not your cup of tea, but Arnold - The Education of a Bodybuilder is a pretty epic and entertaining story of hard work and dedication achieving results. It's hard to not get inspired to work out whenever you read anything about Arnold's success in bodybuilding.
My Year of Running Dangerously was fantastic. Haruki Murakami's What I Talk About when I Talk About Running was also wonderful - he's a beautiful fiction writer and he wrote this memoir about running. Fabulous.
