I'm reading a better-than-average romance (Forever Mine by Erin Nicholas) with a heroine who dresses up as a superhero to teach kids martial arts. That's on my kindle. And I just started Bound Together by Christine Feehan in actual book form.
I've been on a real light-and-fluffy kick lately. Maybe the real world is bringing me down too much.
QOTW: I do have a real calendar on my wall - I find it very useful when I'm on conference calls and trying to schedule things (easier than opening my Outlook calendar in the middle of a meeting, when I might be sharing screens). It has pictures of lakes, as living on a lake is always my ideal life.
I finished The Romanov Sisters Sisters shortly after posting last time. 3* I felt like the book left some unanswered questions so I had to do some quick research after finishing the book to answer some of my questions.
I read Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. 1* I am still angry about this book! I am guessing that most of the people who read this book and loved it looked at the book from a much different perspective than I did. I couldn't get past the fact that it romanticizes suicide. Reading it made my blood boil and I fear the book getting into the hands of suicidal teens.
I just started We Were The Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter last night. I wish something a little lighter would have come in from the library, especially after the last two books. Maybe my next book....
Qotw: I do not. I do have a plain weekly dry erase calendar on our fridge and a planner folder that I carry around that has a monthly calendar in it.
I'm reading The Sleepwalker. I hope to finish it today or tomorrow. It's very good. Next up is Lilac Girls.
QOTW - yes, I have a Crusoe, The Celebrity Dachshund calendar on my wall. I mostly use a digital calendar, but I still like to have a paper one to write birthdays and see the whole month at a time.
Reading the Fate of the Tearling. I'm maybe a third of the way in and it's good but I don't really have high expectations for these books. Curious to see why so many hated it.
QOTW: I have a paper calendar at work but I don't really use it. It was on January until earlier this week. The calendar features local baseball players with shelter pets so I really just buy it for the pictures and because the money goes to the shelter.

On my kindle, I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale. I'm only about 15% in but I'm really liking it so far.
I just finished The Nest on audio this morning. This was pretty good. Nothing new or spectacular. I'm not sure what I'll listen to next. I'll see what's available on overdrive I guess.
QOTW: I do have a couple calendars. My monthly one is company sponsored so it showcases pictures taken by employees. This month is a picture from the Grand Canyon. I also have daily Sudoku calendar too.
I'm listening to #6 in the Charley Davidson series. I'm also reading #2 in the BDB Legacy series. I'm enjoying the former, I'm kind of bored at 10% with the latter.
I don't have a paper calendar right now. I think my last one was a Dunkin' Donuts one. Free coupons, yo!
I'm working on The Romanov Sisters and Sea of Stars, which is book 2 of a YA series.
QOTD: for the past four (?) years, a local real estate company sent lovely calendars with photos of my awesome state. We didn't get one this year and I was totally bummed. We're currently using my kid's Highlights calendar.
Slow week as I came to NYC with my husband for a work trip. I was actually able to join him at Citibank hq and it was great timing as their global operations manager was female, but I also noticed they had a female banker flipping slides when the cyber manager (male) briefed while the female manager chose to use the clicker. Yes, I'm still reading Lean In and also The Romanov Sisters. I think I'm going to have to turn my kindle to airplane mode to finish! I'm learning a lot but it doesn't make me want to constantly read it.
QOTW- yes, it has trains on it. My mom buys it for my husband every year and he really likes trains....
I'm reading Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan as part of my ~2-year-long Wheel of Time series re-read.
Listening to Eragon because it was available from my library when I needed a new audiobook and I've always wondered about it. Unfortunately it's about to expire and I'm only halfway through, so I have to decide if I'm just going to wait through the next holds or try to pick up a paper copy. It's fine but not enthralling.
QOTW: I have paper calendars both at home and the office. At home, it's a Shutterfly one my sister and I make every year for us and our parents. At the office, this year it's a U.S. National Parks one that someone gave me (always something nature-y).

I wonder if I will ever make it through this series, let alone re read it! I got stalled at a little more than halfway through #2. I don't know what my problem is, I'm really liking them! I think I must be getting psyched out since I know how much there is left to read.

It is a big undertaking. The first time I read the series, Jordan was still alive and the last few books weren't written, so it took a long time to get through as I waited for them to come out. This second time, I started reading in early 2016 and decided I'd read about one every 2 months so that it didn't feel so overwhelming. I really like the characters and it seems that every time I finish a book I want to jump right in to the next one because of it, but if I try to read too many in a row it just feels like too much.
So, my recommendation if you want to get through the series is to space them out a bit. Also, the books Sanderson finished feel like they move along more quickly, which may just be because he is tying up all of the loose ends rather than anything wrong with Jordan.
I just finished The Story of O last night. It was a bit disturbing, if I'm being honest. More so at the beginning than as it went on, but I don't know if that's just that I got sort of numb to the whole thing. I can't figure out how to rate it. 2 stars? 3 stars? 2.5, maybe?
I'm also reading the Romanov Sisters and listening to Luckiest Girl Alive. I'm about 65% through LGA, and it just took a turn I wasn't expecting. I like it a lot, though. The Romanov book is getting a bit dry. Still interesting, but it's dawning on me (at just 30% in) just how long this book is.
QOTW: I have one at home with some kind of nature scenes on it, and one at work from the Unemployed Philosophers Guild with random shit on it. This month is geometric shapes (5 regular platonic solids, to be exact), last month was a flow chart of Shakespearean insults, next month is illustrations of Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman and how they evolved through the decades. I love it.
I'm almost finished with The Little Stranger. I really need to push on it because it's due in 30 hours (kindle e-book). I've just started listening to Wild in the car. DH really liked it and thought I might as well so I'm giving it a whirl since I was between audiobooks.
UPDATE: I finished The Little Stranger at lunch. It was a good read but not as suspenseful as I was expecting. I'm moving on to The Chemist, though I don't know if I'll be able to get very far into before it has to be returned. It came in about a week ago and I haven't had time to start it, plus I've not heard great things about it and my motivation is not very strong.
I have paper calendars at home and at work. Both were given to me in one way or another. My work one was given to me by a friend. She bought it in Hawaii so it has Hawaiian flowers on it. The one at home is a Colonial Williamsburg one. Some years I get a Norfolk Southern calendar but I get enough of trains at work so I usually give that one to DH and he may hang it at the church in his office.

I have a somewhat long commute and ended up getting most of these in audio format and that was perfect. I was able to plow through much more easily and I enjoyed the series very much!
I finished A Darker Place (which was mediocre) and started and finished Wee Free Men (the 30th Discworld, but 1st in the Tiffany Aching series), and it was adorable - if you have girls who'd like Harry Potter or the Chronicles of Narnia, I'd definitely recommend this, because it's about a clever 9 year old girl who gets an adventure (and she's not an orphan!).
I'm currently reading Mistress of the Vatican: The True Story of Olimpia Maidalchini: The Secret Female Pope, which is a book club pick. I'm feeling a bit conflicted on it; the intro was boring as hell - I'm not religious at all and I don't really care about the history and political nonsense of the Catholic church in the 1600s, but so far the first couple of chapters about Olimpia's early life are reading like a mildly salacious novel, not a biography, and the non-religious history of the time is interesting. We'll see how it goes. It is LONG.
QOTW: I have two wall calendars, mostly just for decoration. The one in my kitchen is Wild & Scenic Washington, with pretty, high quality photographs of WA state landscapes. The other is in my office, and is a dollar store POS, with extremely low quality, out of focus, fuzzy sunsets and I hate it. I've had good luck in the past with dollar store calendars (my one from 2016 was water color-like animal prints over maps and totally fun and cute), but this one is awful.
I finished All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda and It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover this week. I'm a couple of chapters in to Swing Time by Zadie Smith.
We have a free paper wall calendar with various nature scenes on the fridge, which I cross reference with my phone calendar.
I just finished Lilac Girls this afternoon. Great read!! I have two paper calendars in the house. The calendar in my office is themed "World Wonders", and the kitchen calendar is a Mary Englebreit.

I'm reading Sidney Chambers and the Forgiveness of Sins. It's good, but I'm having trouble getting into this particular story (it's 6 loosely connected short stories). I'm hoping the weekend will be good for reading and I'll get through this story and will be able to finish the book. I need to get it in the mail to my Dad in the next week.
QOTW: I have two wall calendars. In my living room, it's pictures of Quebec and in the kitchen it's pictures of San Francisco. I like to have calendars of places I've been. My living room is almost always Eastern Canada, while the kitchen is places DH & I have traveled together.
I'm reading I am Malala. I took a break and read lighter stuff last week on vacation. This is for my IRL book club this month, so I need to stick with it.
We have one in the sink area of our bathroom. It's usually scenic/nature, this year it's also free. It serves as a reference and art on the wall! I had one made from Shutterfly that sits on my desk at work. I need to see the whole month when I'm on the phone or answering emails and the pop up one on the computer never really works for me.
I am reading: My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman. ---holy pregnancy hormones batman. Not even a quarter through it and I've already sobbed like a baby.
Listening to: Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. --- so good, and so heartbreaking. Bryan Stevenson spoke at my grad school graduation. He is an incredible orator.
QOTW:
Nope. I love calendars and sticking to one for the year is difficult. So we don't use one. I have a weekly planning board, but that's it.
