"I'm Thinking of Ending Things" gave it 4 stars, mostly because i could NOT put it down and had to finish it to see what the hell was going on!
QOTD: at home, no, work, Yes, do not even know what it is? Something from our teachers union lol
I just finished l'm Thinking of Ending Things also! It was creepy but I kinda saw it coming pretty early in the book. I'd highly recommend googling the author's message board and reading the replies. It was also pretty interesting to learn the thought process behind the window/the basement/etc. It kind of tied some of the loose ends up for me.
I also read A Clockwork Orange this week. That was a snooze fest imo.
I'm about halfway through Big Little Lies and it's just okay so far.
QOTW: I have a small work calendar that is National Parks. we don't have a calendar in our house but we need one.
Still reading We Two (about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert). I may not give up on it, but I am going to move on to a fictional novel this weekend. DH is gone for the week and I want to read a book (or two) that keeps me interested. I am thinking of JD Robb or Mary Higgins Clark.
QOTW: I have a desk calendar at work, no pictures, but pretty pastel design on the border.
I went on a cruise with my sister this (long) weekend, sans husbands and kids, and it was fabulous! I surprisingly didn't get much reading done though because we were too busy having fun
Read last week The Romanov Sisters by Helen Rappaport - non-fiction; 3 stars; I'll wait until our book club discussion on April 26 Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - YA/fantasy; 4.5 stars; Um, my library's copy of the book ends when it says I still had 25% of the book left to read because the sneak-peek excerpts are just that long! So I really wasn't expecting the book to just end when it did on a cliffhanger. I'm impatiently waiting for the next book to become available at the library! And I'm putting in another plug for "The Lies of Locke Lamora" - read that book if you read this one and liked it, they are similarly awesome. Yes, Please and Now, Please by Willow Summers - romance; 3 stars; I wanted to read a silly, smutty book and this was really just one book broken up until several pieces, which is annoying. I felt fine with just stopping after the second book, though there's two more apparently. Red Moon Rising by Elizabeth Kelly - PNR; 2.5 stars; calling someone "Little One" is not a sexy nickname. It's just not.
Currently reading A Conjuring of Light (#3 in series) by V.E. Schwab - fantasy; I am a little over half way done and it's good, but not as good as the previous book. Seven Minutes in Heaven by Eloisa James - historical romance; almost half way done and I am a little bored. Shield of Thunder (#2 in series) by David Gemmel - historical fiction; I'm really liking this so far but I am surprised that the main characters from the previous book aren't really in it yet.
QOTW No paper calendar. I can't even remember the last time I had one.
brandienee - I am so jealous that Bryan Stevenson spoke at your graduation!! That book made me immediately go donate to the equal justice initiative.
rootbeerfloat - that sad's considering it's a book club read for the board and it's the only book I will have to buy because my library doesn't carry it
aurora / snshne322 - it is an overwhelming undertaking to start and finish that series. The books at the beginning and end are great but towards the middle they get a little hit or miss. I agree that Sanderson did a great job wrapping things up. Made me want to read his books, which I have read two and they are great (but also LONG). He has several other books on my TBR list

I don't want to get into much detail since we will discuss it, but I can see why it has high GR ratings. The writing is poetic, like The Goldfinch (which I also didn't like lol). I found it really upsetting, though.

I didn't care for The Goldfinch either (sooooo long and the whole part that takes place in Las Vegas I could have done without)
I started and finished The Hating Game by Sally Thorne this weekend. I loved it! It was quick and fun and I really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. 4/5*
I'm still reading Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. I'm taking my time with it because of the subject matter (WWII, refugees through Europe). I've heard lots of good things about this one and so far it's living up to the hype. I'll probably finish it this week.
QOTW: I'm definitely a paper calendar person. My wall calendar is really plain, though. My personal calendar is a little more exciting.

I really, really enjoyed this one. It was a tough subject, but a great read.

Indelible by Adelia Saunders. Soooo good. It's about a girl who sees words written on people's skin which reveal the truth about them to her - their pasts, futures, hopes and dreams, losses, etc. It has a certain fairy tale feel but one out of Grimm's than Disney. It's interesting. 5/5
