Have you ever listened to music, audiobooks, podcasts when swimming in the pool?
Just curious. I have waterproof Bluetooth speakers and I think the range is long enough so I could go in the pool and have my iPhone in a waterproof bag on the side of the pool. Yet I'm hesitant to try this out. I'm not sure I want to listen to anything. I feel like I would lose count of laps and it would be too distracting.
I didnt even realize that was a possibility! Lol im old, and technology confuses me, though.
While i swim on a masters team, we generally do the workouts on our own, still, i think, like running, headphones would feel oddly claustrophobic for me.
Anyway, one more week till we start swimming outside!
No. I think I'm old school about my swimming. I have no desire to have a thing on me to listen to anything, which I realize sounds silly from someone who usually listens to music while running.
Sometimes I get lazy and rely on my Garmin 910xt instead of counting though. Especially if I am just doing a long straight swim. It's not 100%, but good enough.

I swear I typed something in here...
but anyways!
I think I'd get distracted. I currently have so many things running through my head to try to keep track of, that I'd zone out and probably drown myself in the process.
I've thought about that as I've started to swim longer. My swims are now 30-45 min which is pretty long for me! And I don't have to think much anymore so I have found myself kind of sick of listening to myself breath since I wear ear plugs. But I know I won't have headphones when I race so I don't think I'll look in to any listening options. I don't mind running without music at all, I guess because the outside sounds are varied but with swimming it seems more monotonous since all I hear is myself.
I also still need to buy more of the essentials like a watch, bike, helmet, etc. So waterproof listening device is low on my priority of purchases.
I have never listened to anything, but when I'm swimming long and without masters team/coach I sing to myself (I mean, sort of). I like having tempo for cadence (aside from the annoying beeps of a tempo trainer).
And taratru - I promise it's totally fine, and I typically run with music. The environment is just different. And I'm jealous.

I've tried it but I don't like headphones while swimming. I mostly sing to myself, like kams. I want to try bone conduction audio if I can swim again, so I can do books on tape during long boring pool swims.
I generally don't count laps any more, as I lose track when I'm doing the super long swims. I used my misfit this year as a general "how far did I go" tracker, instead. So it wouldn't hurt me to be completely distracted while swimming.
