I am glad she posted this follow up. I think sometimes you can try to stick to your guns when you think you're right but really missed the mark. She vaguebooked and overstepped in a huge way. Then she dealt with a well deserved public pile on. As we all know though, not everyone online is worth the words they post. Sometimes it can take someone you know and love to give you a come-to-Jesus talk.
I've followed Luvvie's work for a while, long before her popularity. I am still a fan after this. I can believe people make dumb mistakes and can come back from it. I wouldn't be able to unless she had apologized. I have never personally taken her to be insincere and I don't feel this is insincere.
I can accept that she made a mistake in her original post. What I can never condone or forgive is the space she created for white folks to pile on and share their "I too have been hurt by a black" sob stories. She checked not a single one of those folks in her comments, and that speaks volumes. No, ma'am. You don't get to do that. She has too much to learn before she gets to speak for me.
