My DS transitioned to 4 formula bottles a day (he's FF) at 10 months. It equaled 16oz/day. Today we start transitioning to WCM. I'm starting with 2oz with a snack at 3pm(ish) as that's the bottle I'm dropping starting today. My DS is 1.5 weeks away from turning one. His pedi said it was ok to start the transition early so here we go.
ETA: I'm going to put it in a sippy cup. ETA: yesterday went well. DS drank 1.5 oz (roughly) of WCM. He seemed to like the milk. Today I'm giving him 3 or 4oz of WCM and we'll see how that goes.
I made sure I served full fat, plain yogurt and cottage cheese, as well as non dairy protein sources, very regularly. We did not replace nursing sessions with cow's milk at all.

I mixed around 11 months-ish. I added an ounce in the bottle for a week, then two ounces the next week, etc, until he was just drinking cows milk. However, I was still nursing.
I gave one or two straight up WCM bottles when E was 11 months. Just to see how he did with them, checking for reactions or distaste. It ended up being nbd, so when my freezer stash ran out, he went to WCM cold turkey, although we continued to nurse.

Yep, this. She's a week from her first birthday, and now drinks straight cow's milk plus two nursing sessions a day. During the mixing phase she drank from a bottle but now we use zoli bot straw cups.
1. We started at 12 months, not earlier (daycare wasn't allowed to start earlier)
2. We switched C to sippy cups starting around 10 months.
3. We didn't mix at all, just started offering WCM in a sippy cup during times he would have gotten BM in a sippy. We were still BF morning and evening at this point, so he really only got WCM at daycare.
It helped me a little bit to separate starting WM from stopping breatsfeeding. We didn't replace completely, we basically just started offering milk in a sippy cup around the same time I dropped a few nursing sessions. We started at 11 months with the pedis approval. She didn't take much at first, but we just kept giving her a cup at meals and eventually she started drinking more. By 12.5 months we were only nursing morning and night and I weaned altogether at 17 months.
Note we never really did bottles, so we didn't do the mixing with BM thing. She is also a big kid, so we weren't worried about calories or anything. At 12 months she started getting more picky with food, so I bought some reusable pouches and started giving her whole Greek yogurt mixed with fruit and veggies in them to help keep her full. She would eat those sometimes even when she wouldn't eat anything else.
oh and to answer a few other questions: we have never heated whole milk. I didnt want her to get used to that, especially since they wouldn't do it at daycare in the toddler room. If you haven't started sippy cups yet, I'd start using them asap to get used to them. We started with the Munchkin 360 with water pretty early, so she was already used to the sippy when we started milk. On nursing, I think we were doing about 5x a day at 11 months. As long as weight is okay and she's eating plenty of solids, I wouldn't worry about her dropping sessions. But I'd double check with the pedi if you have any concerns.

My son was on formula, but amounts were rapidly dwindling by then.
I never mixed cow's milk with anything or put milk in a bottle. He started at daycare, drinking a sippy cup of milk with his lunch. He then dropped that bottle. About a month later, he did the same thing at home for dinner, and dropped that bottle. He also dropped the 9am bottle and just had a snack.
Finally we wrapped up the wake up bottle just after one, because we ran out of formula and I was done.
So in a nutshell, he saw kids using sippies at daycare with meals, and he did it too. He used a take n toss cup, there were zero issues.

We did things a little differently than most. But DS wasn't the slightest bit attached to bottles or nursing.
He started getting water in a sippy or straw cup around 5-6 months. We went to straw cups of water with every meal for him to play around with pretty quickly. By 11 months, I was sending straw cups with breastmilk to daycare instead of bottles.
Around 10-11 months I gave him a couple small cups of WCM in the straw cup to make sure he would be okay with it. He was. So as I ran out of pumped breastmilk after 12 months he got WCM in the straw cups he was already getting at daycare and he never acted like he noticed.
In addition, he nursed morning and night. But I actually weaned him during the day around 10 months because the distracted nursing during the day was SO bad that I was willing to pump instead. Still did 2x/day until 14 months though.
I wish I could remember number of feedings though. I feel like they got spaced out a little more... but 9-month-old DD is still essentially cluster feeding in the evenings. So right now it feels like it will never end!
So I am still nursing at 15m, but we ditched bottles around 11m. Around that time whenever we got free milk with a kids meal we let him try it. It took maybe 3-4 times before he actually drank it. Now he can do BM or WCM in a sippy or BF, no issues.
I started running super low on pumped BM towards the end. Once it was August (her birthday is the 25th) I started using a bit of cow milk in addition to frozen reserves to get her to the targeted volume of milk. She started hardcore rejecting bottle so it was a bottle or cup and warmed to try and get as much milk as possible.
DS1 never liked milk so I just gave him lots of other dairy and he continued to nurse till 2.5 years old. DS2 likes cows milk so around a year he had bottles during the day and I only nurse at night. He can drink from a sippy cup, straw, and open cup so I still do bottles of wcm during the day. He sits on the couch and we snuggle while he drinks the milk - he and I both love it so I'm in no hurry to stop the bottles.
We gave water in straw cups starting at 6 months. We might have started WCM around 11.5 months w/DS (he wasn't big on solids). I never really did breastmilk in a cup or anything. It was an easy transition.
