I need a new one. Would like medium coverage that's buildable. Also something that lasts all day and can handle really pale skin.
I really liked the tarte amazonian clay foundation, but it wasn't blending well so I switched away. Before I go back to that, I wanted to try some others out.
You might like the Josie Maran Vibrancy foundation. It's medium coverage and can be built up. It's a satin/dewy finish and I use a beauty blender to apply. Its pretty pale friendly, I use the lightest shade which is maybe a bit too light but I love the undertone. Also my skin looks nice and glowy when I remove it from the argon oil in it. My skin is oily and I just set with a powder and maybe blot in the summer but it still works great for me. I love this stuff.
I used the Tarte Amazonian for a long time and loved it, until I suddenly couldn't deal with silicone. I switched the Tarte Amazonian Mineral powder, but disliked the coverage. Now that my skin is under control, by HG is IT Cosmetics CC - which I loved that I could try in the smaller size for $10. My ultimate HG that is $$$ is Georgio Armani Face Fabric. I use it for special occasions and the IT Cosmetics one for daily use.

What kind of skin do you have? I have really oily skin and love the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + (not under $40, but close with the 15% off at Sephora right now).
For those of you that like the IT CC - do you prefer the regular or the Illumination? Also, what kind of skin do you have? I have traditional T-Zone combo skin.

I've been using the regular CC cream for a few years and it's my HG. I have combo skin and it's perfect (I do set it with IT Bye Bye Pores loose powder). DO NOT get the illumination one unless you want to sparkle. I can't use it alone due to the sparkles and have to cut it with the regular (and I am only doing that because I don't want to waste the tube that I have).
have you tried the "light" version of this? I bought it with the Sephora sale and I'm dying to know how it is. I didn't see any reviews on it (but didn't look very hard, either)

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is my HG foundation. Lightweight but buildable, applies like a dream, especially with a beauty blender, and the staying power is amazing. It never oxidize or slides on my face.
I'll use It CC cream sometimes, but I don't love it. I don't think it lasts as well as my Double Wear Light.
I also like Perricone No Foundation Foundation serum for when I want something really light coverage to just smooth things out.

I use the regular. I have dry to combination skin and I do not like to shine. I usually use a finishing powder or the cc powder lightly over the top. If I want a little glow, I'll use a not sparkly highlighter.
Another rec - I resisted blush for the longest time and I just got some Tarte Exposed. It looks very natural on my pale self <-- ETA rec for op cuddlyevil

I dont know what skintype I have anymore. I used to say oily, but now it's too dry. It's also become sensitive and acne prone. I have switched to asian beauty lines and I am seeing improvement after only two weeks.
It is out of the price range you listed, but I love my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. I feel like it looks better 2 hours after application than immediately following. Sephora has a smaller "travel size" (0.6 ozs I believe) for $42. A good way to try it. It take me forever to finish a foundation anyways, so the smaller amount works for me. The name is deceiving though. I would say it is just a natural finish, not necessarily dewy at all. It builds well to a solid medium coverage.

UD Naked and It CC Cream are the two I love. I have both the matte and illuminating IT cc cream and I prefer the matte. The illuminating one is way too much for me to use regularly. UD Naked is lighter than the cc cream. Out of the two it is my favorite. It's amazing how light it feels but provides great coverage and a true medium coverage that can easily build. I think the cc cream is heavier and fuller coverage.

Thanks ladies!
I have combination skin, my nose is oily but the rest tends to dry easily. I think I'm just going to have to try a few things and see what works. So glad Sephora's got a sale on

This is what I use including buying the smaller bottle. It's the best I have tried and it looks even better on after it settles into the skin.
