I have largeish pores that clog fast. What I've discovered is that my face was really DRY which was causing my skin to go nuts with the oil production, which made the pores clog faster which meant they enlarged faster. When I stripped the oil out with standard 'alcohol based toner' (aka sea breeze from the 90's) I was just making the problem worse!
So, I started moisturizing and using a cleanser for dry/combo skin (Cerave which is nice because it's not super expensive and I can get it at Target/Walmart). My moisturizer that I use MOST of the time is CosRx Birch Sap lotion, and I will occasionally (1 - 2 times a week) use some BHA on my trouble zones. Any more than that and I get really dry which makes me really oily etc.
When my pores get too clogged (at this point once a month or so) I use a Skin Miso nose strip (a non drying/non yanking strip) to open, loosen then extract and close up my pores.

If you're open to dipping your toe into the wide world of Asian beauty, this regime is kind of fun and doesn't require any "weird" products (like snail slime :-) ).

I'm lazy. I let my esthetician do all the work and just get a facial every three week. My pores are probably 90% smaller after doing this regularly. She uses Aveda.
I've also used the same method (and purchased what fifty uses) that DarcyLongfellow mentioned. My skin feels great afterwards, but I have never felt the "grit" (blackheads coming out of my pores), even though I can see the tiny blackheads on my nose
I just got a facial few weeks ago (with extractions), and I can see my pores are clogged again on my nose. SUCKS
