I was just coming in to say Youtubes. I hadn't knitted for awhile and couldn't believe all the youtubes and they were good, I bet there are great ones for crochet too.
I was in my 30s before I learned. I am left handed so I had to find someone that did left handed tutorials. I was successful in learning from www.crochetgeek.com/ - she was easy for me to follow and records videos for both left and right handed learners.

Ditto watching you tube videos. The first time i tried to learn I got a book and the pictures made no sense. I watched video tutorials and actually seeing it helped a lot. You could also ask around and see if a friend could teach you.
Totally youtube. That's how I learned to knit. I learned crochet before youtube became a thing, and it was a lot harder than using youtube to knit. Your library may also have a group that knits or crochets, I know mine does.
I taught myself to crochet very recently actually. I bought a kit at Michael's but it didn't help much. Where I got the most comprehensive instruction was yes, YouTube. Crochet Crowd is one of the better channels. I am left handed and they teach both left and right handed. This site is also very helpful - www.anniescatalog.com/pages/stitchguide/index.html?cid=3.
If you find you need hands on instruction, try calling a few yarn shops in your area to see if they can help you. Crochet is really enjoyable once you get the hang of it.

youtube. I used Hopeful Honey to start, and now I use Moogly for refreshers or stitches that I can't figure out. Bonus: Moogly does left and right handed tutorials.
If you would like to learn in person I would ask around at local yarn shops or check Meetup to see if there is a knitting circle for your area. I would guess that about half of knitters know how to crochet too and would be able to show you in person.
When I learned there was no YouTube. I am left handed so my Left Handed grandmother taught me the basics. Later on I did use YT and it's been great. I love Crochet but run out of stuff to make.

LOL if ONLY I had that problem...
I just finished this last night and am trying to figure out my next project...
