I've been thinking about starting this discussion for a few days, but I was too busy reading - haha. You know those first two are nearly ELEVEN HUNDRED PAGES altogether?! I was worried I wouldn't finish in time. Yeah, right.
The the first time, I gave ACOTAR three stars. I might up that to four, even though I still didn't LOVE it. I paid more attention this time, though. How did I not know Rhys has black hair?!? Duh, of course he does. I always picture him blond, like Jonathan Rhys as King Henry, or Nikolai Whatshisname as Jamie Lannister. I picked up on more of the foreshadowing this time, and highlighted some passages that made me pause. We'll see if that works out. I totally skimmed all the sex scenes with Tamlin. The second book ruined them for me! And TBH, I skimmed the infamous Chapter 55 of the second book, because I liked the mental, romantic stuff more. (Even though DH is convinced I only care about the sex).
I really hope hope to see a lot of Feyre and Rhys being a badass power couple. Please, please, PLEASE don't spend the whole book separated and tortured/imprisioned/on the verge of death and yearning/searching/pining for each other. Some, sure. Can't escape that. But as a reader, I demand some satisfaction here! Lol.
I re-read ACOTAR last week. I think I rated it a 4 the first time around and still would. I remember liking Tamlin in the first book and didn't pay much attention to Rhys. This time I noticed the foreshadowing a lot more and could tell Feyre and Rhys were bonded. It's so obvious I can't believe I missed it the first time around!
I'm about half way through ACOMAF. It's interesting to see how being Under the Mountain affected all of them. The first time I thought Tamlin being so controlling was kind of a departure in his personality but after re-reading, no not really. It's who he always was but it was multiplied after being Amarantha's captive.
I'm really looking forward to book 3 but I'm a little nervous about it, too. I don't want Rhys and Feyre apart the whole book and I don't want a million new characters introduced. Sadly, based on TOG I think that is exactly what will happen since more books are coming.
I remember hating Rhys in the 1st book when I first read. When I reread last week I obviously didn't hate him, haha. I definitely paid more attention and I loved it when he came to her cell before the last task because he had no where else to go.
I really hope in ACOWAR that they can communicate with the paper. I agree with you guys that I will be so disappointed if they are separated for the whole book. I also want Feyre to master her power so she can kick lots of ass.
Also, I thought the 1st 3 books are on Rhys and Feyre and the next 3 are a separate story? So this book will wrap things up so to speak.

Me, too. But we're we're supposed to hate him. Later in Mist and Fury, he admits to holding Fetre's mind and intentionally making her hate him.

I also remember being mad when Feyre 1st saw Rhys and thinking he was 'the most beautiful male'. I was like, uh no, that's Tamlin. Lol about that!
I liked Rhys immediately in book 2. I remember thinking (and probably posting) that she better ditch Tamlin or I was done - haha. When I started the reread, I was like "how many pages do we have to suffer Tamlin?" Answer: less than 50.
I never hated Rhys, but I also thought it was pretty obvious that he was set up as Tamlin's foil and so I kind of assumed that the things I didn't like about Tamlin would be corrected in Rhys. Plus his rationale for being nice to Feyre (relatively nice) Under the Mountain just didn't make sense. The whole crawling to save her because he wanted to be remembered as having done something? Yeah never bought that Rhysand!
I've been rereading them kind of since I first read them (a month ago lol) and I don't like how the plot shifts so suddenly in ACOTAR. You think the plot is one thing and then you are introduced to this entire new setting, more characters, more backstory, etc. I think had it happened sooner in the book it would not have been so jarring to me. But I feel like the first half is set up as very Feyre and Tamlin's love story and then BAM! Evil Fae queen! Yes they talk about the blight etc but still.
I really loved ACOMAF but I'm basically really worried about the last one. I want there to be some closure. I want Feyre to be happy. After Empire of Storms I need a happy ending Sarah Maas, damn it all.
Chapter 55 I can skip, I am all about Chapter 54 when Rhys lays it all out - what he went through, what he did, why he did it. Just, ugh, tore me up! It was like reading the whole first book condensed down to one chapter but with a brand new twist on it. I did suspect something was up with Feyre/Rhy when I read the first book, but I had NO IDEA how much Maas had set it up. It was just so impressive. I've re-read chapter 54 at least 10 times by now, just because I enjoy it that much. I like going back to the first book and reading the scenes he is talking about too. Just. *sigh*. WHERE'S BOOK 3?!?! IS IT MAY YET??!!!

I just finished A Court of Mist and Fury... you all were right that these are really good! I agree with Chapter 54 being masterful, but after 500 pages of foreplay, Chapter 55 was good too!
I think Book Three will be Feyre working with Tamlin to get back to Rhys during the war with Hybern. Maybe Tamlin will have the realization that if you love something, let it go, and she will get to be with Rhys. I predict the High Lords (and Lady) ultimately successfully unite against Hybern, Rhys is fatally injured (maybe something to do with his wings), and we learn at the very end Feyre is pregnant (maybe she forget to take the tonic.)

i'm re reading this weekend!! I also just only read them for the first time a month ago, but I'm sure I'll catch more re reading then now.
I would hope this wraps of their story since the other three books are supposed to be a separate story line involving some of the other characters right?
If Maas kills Rhysand.... I don't even want to think how people (including me) will lose their minds. I really hope she's not that crazy...
I've been waiting for this thread to show up too! I'm starting my re-read now, didn't want to do it too far ahead of time. I'm off next Tuesday and Wednesday, so I will basically just be reading all day/night. I'm very excited.
sarahsays, I'm also hoping for more out of Lucien this book, hopefully the fact that he is mated with Elaine will make him finally willing to stand up to Tamlin and help Feyre out.
I'm wondering if Tamlin will redeem himself at all, or if he will go down with the ship still trying to control Feyre/letting his love for her poison his actions and character. I would like to see him realize the error of his ways and help her out in the end too, maybe form a real alliance with the night court.
Do you all think we'll see more of the high lord of summer court? He seemed very interested in making things better along the same lines as Rhys/Feyre, I'm speculating he may ally with the night court against the King as well, but maybe in secret?
One last thought, does Feyre still have any other powers that she hasn't discovered yet? The whole glowing when happy one seemed a little thin, like surely there is more to it (was the spell breaking part of that one, or separate? I can't remember). I'm def excited to see her busting out her powers in this next book!

I'm jealous. I have a paper due Wednesday. I'm going to try to do it this weekend so that I can start reading as soon as I get the book into my hands.
I think SJM said we would see more of all of the highlords in this book.
I do think there will be more power. Maybe she'll explore the Spring Court shifting power more now that she's back there again. The spell breaking was part of the Summer High Lord's gift to her, I think.

Okay, did ya'll not see where I pointed out these two books are 1100 pages?! Who are you people - lol.
As to your last paragraph, I was paying more attention the second time and there is a lot of emphasis on Feyre Cursebreaker, Spellbreaker. The parts where the book and caldron "speak" to her are interesting, and so is how she escapes the King of Hybern at the end. (I know I said there'd be spoilers, but I'll let you read it and see what you think). Honestly, I sometime glaze over battle scenes, so I missed a lot the first time around.
All of which makes me optimistic for the High Lord and Lady to kick ass together in book three!
I heard there have been leaks on Tumblr. I have no interest in investigating the truth of it, though.
Someone posted an excerpt a few weeks ago, but it was too small for these old eyes to read, and I don't like to read excerpts out of their context in the story anyway.
So I had a question during my reread of ACOTAR last night. It's something that may be answered later on and I just forgot, so feel free to give me the keep reading prompt.
So The Blight was because Tamlin refused to submit to Amarantha, correct? She wanted him as a lover and he refused? Once the curse was in place and he had to find the human was the offer still on the table or not? As his subject, I wouldn't want him to submit to it, but as I ruler is seems a sacrifice for his people and humans.
Feyre has just completed the first full moon task so I still have room to remember/learn, but I'm surprised had how much I've forgotten.

I assumed the blight was part of the spell Aramantha put on all the high lords.
After thinking about it more, is the spell on the High Lords and the spell put on Tamlin 2 different spells?

Hmm, maybe that's it. I remember being a bit confused by this last time!

Amarantha IS (was?) the blight. "Blight" was a euphemism for her since they were all spelled to not speak about it. All the High Lords had their powers diminished, and Amarantha put the extra curse on Tamlin as revenge for what his family had done.
I just finished my reread and, ugh, Tuesday cannot come fast enough. I forgot about the note writing thing, and I hope that shows up because I love their banter and their relationship. There was actually a lot from the end that I forgot, so I'm glad I got to read it again.
I can't wait to see how Lucien does in this one, that has potential to be pretty amazing.
