Are accent walls out of style? I was thinking of painting our fireplace wall and kitchen island wall a different color than the rest of the main living area. Not sure what color but nothing dark or too bright. I'll attach photos of the space in the comments,, it's one big open room for the dining, kitchen, and living room and is beige now. I'm just not sure if it's totally out of style to do this? Painting the whole area is not an option, too much work and I do like the beige color now but it's in every room of the the house and I need some color somewhere.

Hmm I'm not sure how to pull it off since the room is so open. Hopefully someone else will have better ideas though! Man I'm so jealous of your pretty new house.
Your house is beautiful. I'm not a fan of accent walls but that doesn't mean they are out of style. I think it would be your best bet to bring in some color, though, since your house is so open.

I don't care for accent walls and I'm super boring when it comes to paint colors becasue I love neutrals and all white. I just here to say that your house is gorge.
I'm currently obsessed with wallpaper so I'd wallpaper the wall behind your fireplace in something really bold
Have you used new/modern wallpaper? Is it as awful to remove at 1990's wallpaper? We actually have modern wallpapered bathrooms in our house, and they do look good but I'm afraid for when we want to remove it.

As for accent walls, I'm sure there are situations in which it looks lovely, but all I can picture is the mauve accent wall my parents had in the late 80's.
So wallpaper. Where do you even start to find it? Can you get samples anywhere? I haven't bought wallpaper since 1995 lol. Can particular patterns that are in style?

Check out Casart Coverings. It's basically peel and stick wallpaper that you can remove and reuse. I've thought about using the chevron pattern in W's room because I could never paint it.
