Thanks ufcasey!! I'm almost through with The Handmaid's Tale (re-reading after 12 years; wanted to re-read before starting Hulu series) & hadn't yet decided on my next. The Hate You Give is in my stack of future reads, & you just finalized my decision!👍
QOTW: Both!! *My IL's travel a LOT & SIL & I had been on them for never sending pics of people/ themselves but always sending (ahem, way too many!) scenery photos. Um. Professional photos exist of the "views" they're sending us & they're SO much better- we wanna see you in them! Anyway, they've finally complied & send a 50/50 mix now. Sorry for the way too long story about ppl you don't know, but I obviously had to get that out! 😜
I reread ACOTAR last night and I'm planning to do ACOMAF tonight/tomorrow. I also have to finish Race and Reunion and write a draft of a slavery paper. I'm hoping that my desire to reread will motivate me to do the thing I *need* to do more quickly.
QOTW: Scenery for sure. I rarely take pictures of people. I need to be better at taking pictures of H and myself in cool places.
Finished Sorry to Disrupt the Peace by Patty Yumi Cottrell, which was... weird. It made me uncomfortable. The narrator is supposed to have undiagnosed manic depression or schizophrenia, and it follows her feelings on her adoptive brother's suicide. I think the point of it was to make the reader uncomfortable, but I didn't like it very much.
I read Ann Brashares' new book The Whole Thing Together last night as a guilty pleasure and loved it. I needed something fluffier.
Also reading A Teaspoon of Earth and Sea by Dina Nayeri, and it's beautiful but heartbreaking.
QOTW: I take a lot of photos of both. It really just depends on my mood, where we are, who I am with, etc.
I finished Mistress of the Vatican: The True Story of Olimpia Maidalchini: The Secret Female Pope in time for my book club, which is more than I can say for about 1/3 of the members. LOL! The person who is basically the leader of the club, the person who picked the book and a 3rd member all didn't finish it for various reasons, one person loved it, one person flat out hated it, and the rest of us were kind of meh, but all agreed it was too long and needed massive editing.
I've since moved on to The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle #1), which is a YA supernatural mystery of sorts. It's an easy fluff read to give myself a break after the Olimpia Midalchini book.
QOTW: I like to think I take a good mix of both scenery, landmarks, and people. I also take pictures of any animals I come across. My favorite picture from Ireland is of a dog hanging out in the grass next to an old timey lamp post with the Irish country side in the background. It's the most postcard perfect photo I've ever taken.
I read The Rosie Project. It was a fairly easy read, but I am not sure I will continue with the series. I started Still Life by Louise Penny - based on recs from there and IRL book club, so far so good!
I never feel I have enough time to read and I devote time whenever I can. But, I also need to work, sleep, cook, spend time with DH, and surf the net on occasion!
QOTW: I like to take pictures of people in scenery. I can buy postcards that will be better photos of the scenery alone, I want to remember being there with family/friends.
