How was your reading this week? Did you find you have enough time to read as much as you would like?
QOTW: When you're on vacation, do you take more pictures of people or of things/scenery?
I finished Fractured by Catherine McKenzie and I started A Great Reckoning by Louise Penny. I am enjoying a trusted author after a bunch of lackluster books.
QOTW: I mostly take pictures of people, usually my kids/family.
I'm reading "Through the Ever Night" by Veronica Rossi, part two of the Never Sky trilogy.
It's okay. I find the overall concept and plot to be very intriguing, but her writing style is definitely for a younger audience. I just want to finish the series by Tuesday for ACOWAR, lol.

I'm reading The Chosen (BDB #15). It's sort of slow moving right now. I haven't had as much time as I would like to read this whole month. We have had a lot going on and we leave for Disney World tomorrow! I'm hoping after we get back, I can get back into my normal routine.
QOTW: It used to be more things/scenery but now it's more of the kids.
I'm still reading ACOMAF. I absolutely do not have the time to devote to reading that I would like! I mean, I guess I do but there is also other stuff I want/need to devote time to. This is a busy time of the year so my reading is mostly at night.
I'm STILL working through the Romanaov Sisters. I'm around 1/2 way there, and while I want to quit, I feel like I've been reading it for this long, I might as well finish. I have the time to read, I just don't always spend it reading - I'm sort of addicted to some stupid cooking game on my iPad, and I spend entirely too much time playing that. I probably could've finished this book weeks ago if I read as much as I iPad lately.
QOTW: Depends on the vacation - on family vacations, I tend to mostly take pics of my kids. On grown-up only vacations, it's more scenery and things. Side note: my definition of "vacation" has greatly expanded in the last few years, and now includes single nights away with DH. If we drive an hour to Boston for a concert and stay over that night, I consider it a vacation. I find that I enjoy myself more when I think of it that way vs. a quick night out.
Read last week Beyond Innocence (#6 in series) by Kit Rocha - romance; 3 stars; not one of the best of this series, but still good. Devil in Spring (#3 in series) by Lisa Kleypas - historical romance; 3 stars; Usually I love books by this author, but this one I had issues with the 'quirky' heroine Trigger by Scarlett Dawn - PNR; 1 star; I have read other books by this author that I liked, but this one was BAD. No world building, too perfect heroine, etc. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas - YA; 5 stars; GO READ THIS BOOK!! I LOVED IT. ESPECIALLY THE AUDIOBOOK, WHICH IS FANTASTIC
Currently reading A Fatal Grace by Louise Penny - mystery; who knew a murder mystery series could be so nice to read? so much better than the disturbing stuff by Slaughter I read last week. I see travella and I had the same idea Masques by Patricia Briggs - fantasy; this was her very first book, way before her Mercy Thompson series, and it shows LOL
QOTW When we go on European vacations (without kids) it's way more scenery than people. On family vacations, it's all photos of the kids standing in front of various scenery haha

I am completely trying to make sure I am not in the middle of any books come Tuesday when ACOWAR comes out!

Rainbow, have an awesome trip!
I made awesome progress on the Handmaid's Tale, but I'm still only 60% done. I have to finish this weekend because it's due back. It gets better as you go, but I think I'm ready to move on.
QOTW: A lot of scenery because it's usually just me and my husband, no one to take our picture. Starting to not take as many, when we get home I forget what the building or church was, or why it was so picture worthy.
This week I read A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas and The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Both were really good and I highly recommend them. Today I am getting back to The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson.
QOTW: I mostly take pictures with people I know in them, even better if there's something of note in the background.

It definitely shows, but I think I liked this one. I think there's a second as well?
I'm reading We Never Asked for Wings. It's a light quick read which I've been gravitating towards lately.
QOTW- people always, even if I'm trying to capture scenery! I find scenery pics to lose their appeal after a while since I often forget what I'm looking at!
Wow, ufcasey, giant red font? Now THAT is a recommendation - lol. I'll check it out.
I finished ACOMAF and am slogging through A Sea of Stars. It's terrible, but I'm going to finish it since I only have like fifty pages left. I quit a bunch of books this year and my April summary will be pathetic. I'll continue with the Romanov Sisters until Tuesday.
QOTD: I never take enough pictures of vacations. I should be better at that.

Yeah the first book (that I am reading) was written in 1993, then she wrote two other books with different characters but set in the same world in 1995 and 1998, then she wrote the sequel to the first book in 2010. Kind of confusing. I'm not sure if I will go straight to the sequel and just skip the two middle books, or read them in publication order and read all of them.

Yup. I liked it that much.
Amy Bartol is on my shit list because she wrote four books of a series I liked (Premonition series), and then did not publish the fifth and final book of that series until she published all three books of that other series you are reading, which I refuse to read on principle because that was messed up. And I still haven't read the last book because I'm still mad about it haha

Don't even bother. The first book was okay, but this one is crap.
I started ACOTAR this week after seeing so many rave reviews here. I could not get into it at all and returned it. Last night I started the Firebird and it fits the type of book I need right now.
QOTW: MH and I both hate having our pictures taken so my pictures are 99% scenery.
This week I finished Pro: Reclaiming Abortion Rights by Katha Pollitt (ufcasey). It was good, she is not shy about her positioning - not surprising - but if you are looking for something neutral towards the topic, it's not this, lol. She was passionate which I loved and mixed in some interesting stats, some I had heard, some new. What I liked most was being unapologetic in her position supporting abortion rights and not going down the "safe and rare" path a lot of pro-choice advocates espouse.
I'll also finish Men We Reaped by Jesmyn Ward tonight. This was been really good, a memoir about growing up as a young black woman in rural Mississippi and dealing with the deaths over a couple years of 5 young black men and the impact that had on her life. Definitely recommend.
Next up is Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.
I'm reading June by Miranda Beverly-Whittemote. I am really liking it, it reminds me a bit of Sarah Addison Allen's books, but that might be because the setting is very similar in my head.
I think I notice the scenery and the beautiful pieces around me on vacation more so than in my everyday life and can see them framed up in a photo, but I have always done that on vacations when I have a camera. Now though, my pics are probably 50/50 scenery and kids.

I'm reading Arsenic for Tea (a middle reader/young adult mystery), which was quite interesting today at the cafe as I was reading with brunch. My regular waitress brought over my pot of English Breakfast and asked if I was planning something.
QOTW: I almost never take pictures of people. My co-workers used to take bets on whether my vacation pictures would include people, even random strangers.

Swing Time by Zadie Smith. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it.
I also just finished Almost Missed You by Jessica Strawser and The Second Mrs. Hockaday by Susan Rivers, both of which have a mystery element to them and are really good.
I have had a terrible time getting anything started this week, but I'm finally reading Burntown by Jennifer McMahon. It's very strange but interesting and fast moving enough for my distraction level.
QOTW: A little of each, plus a good chunk of animal/wildlife shots.
