My mom and sister, and sister's roommate, arrive tonight to host my baby shower tomorrow night. And I've been wracking my brain for weeks trying to think of hostess gifts, but only came up with lame ideas.
For my sister/ her roommate: a gas gift card since they're driving 350 miles and are both 22 and just out of college.
My MIL is into all things Vera Bradley, soooo...she's easy.
I did pretty stationery for my mom's friends. They all love pretty soaps, those little fancy packets of kleenex that come in a hundred different patterns, any sort of fancy kitchen implements...sort of depends on what your mom is into and how much you want to spend, I think.
Am I the only one who doesn't do this? I have never given or received a hostess gift for a shower. Outside of TN/TB/PB, I've never heard of this. I would feel so awkward if I threw a party for someone, and she handed me a giftcard in return. Uh... I just threw the party so you could get gits, not spend money on me. Flowers, chocolates or a bottle of wine seem okay, I guess.

I gave a necklace and flowers to my main host and just flowers to the 3 others who helped out. I think Starbucks or Dunkin donuts gc would be good too if you have coffee drinkers.

Really?
My shower was at hosted by a few of my mother's close friends at one of their homes. I would've felt terribly awkward showing up empty handed given how much time/effort/expense they went to to throw a nice party for me (and by extension, my mom.)
Update: bought my mom a coue of bottles of wine. Bought my sister and her room mate a gas gift card and am putting toget a basket of "road trip snacks" for their drive home.

I think that the best thing to give is a heartfelt thank you card.
I've sent flowers to the hostesses of my bridal and baby shower. They were, however, in their 60s and I'm sure your sister and her friend would love what you've put together for them. Good idea!
