Last night we suddenly had some major weirdness. H and I were getting in bed and as he was going to shut the bedroom door, it resisted. Like someone was pushing back on the other side. The AC wasn't running at the time and no windows were open or fans on, but we chalked it up to air draft /current. Then we were laying in bed and reading when Alexa, out of nowehere, just randomly says "Anytime.". Brush it off because every once in a while that can happen, Alexa will think you've spoken to her when you haven't. Then we heard a couple strange noises, got up to investigate thinking it was the dog but nope. No idea what it was. Middle of the night my H shoots straight up in bed freaking out due to a bad dream that he doesn't remember but remembers waking up basically in a total panic.
So this morning, I'm working (work from home) and I have CNN on the tv in living room and it turns itself off. Remote was sitting up on a shelf, dog nowhere near it so couldn't have laid down on it or something. Just turned itself off.
So IDK, I feel like it wouldn't hurt to do something. WWYD? Should I burn some sage?
I don't want to end up like whoever that poster is that saw some old lady sitting at her kitchen table. I wouldn't survive that. Cardiac event would kill me for sure.

I don't believe in such things so I would probably assume your house was having electrical issues (maybe small surges or something?) and possibly consider getting an electrician out to check if it kept up.
Ok this will sound really dumb. I don't actuslky believe in ghosts, but I think we have a ghost (if that makes sense, lol). Our house is very old and when we moved in about 3 years ago DS2 started having very consistent nightmares in his room and was always pointing to one corner of his room when scared. Once he told me someone was sitting there (he was 2 at the time). One night over the monitor when DS2 was crying (I was ignoring to see if he would chill on his own) I distinctly heard someone going "shhhhh! Shhhhhh!" over the monitor as well. Then DS1 told me he saw a ghost on our back stairs (that go down from the kids' rooms) in the middle of the night.
Sooo.....I don't know if I really believe in ghosts, but my friend sent me an article on what to do with a ghost and it says something to the effect of "speak calmly and firmly to it" lol. So one day I went into DS2's room and asked the ghost to please stop scaring the kids. ....And the nightmares almost went away (he still has night terrors when sick and still points into that corner when he's in the middle of one, but it's way less).

I always said (and still sometimes say) that I do not believe in ghosts or spirits or anything. But we lived in a house a few years ago that an elderly couple died in. We would deadbolt doors and wake up and they would be open. All the time. Lots of weird sounds as well, but the dead-bolted doors is what stands out the most in my memory. We mentioned it to the family that previously lived there (their parents/grandparents were the ones who passed) and they said they never locked their doors or windows, so maybe that's what was happening.
I decided then that ghosts or spirits, if they exist, are not likely going to be scary and horrifying or trying to kill you like in the movies, you know? the logical part of my brain says there was a reason this was happening but the other part said that the spirits were just hanging around because it was their home for forever and they were comfortable there.
since each incident can be easily explained on it's own (door- swollen wood, alexa - normal enough behavior, bad dreams- irrelevant, tv shutting off- electrical issue), I'd avoid bundling them all together and turning it into something paranormal if you can help it
While looking for houses there were two that I said I would not buy because I had a bad feeling when inside them. One I would not go upstairs the feeling was so strong. The second was nearly perfect for us on paper, but I just didn't want to be inside I was so uncomfortable. DH labeled the spreadsheet as "haunted" and we continued our search. Life is too short to even consider somewhere that made me uncomfortable - paranormal or not! Thankfully, we had many non-haunted houses to choose from.
I have had weird events since I was little. I am so used to it by now it doesn't bother me too much.
The new one is the light in the livingroom goes on by itself. It is a fan with a remote to turn the light and fan on and off. We have had for 4 years and in November it started turning on. It only occurs when I am there. I was hospitalized for a week and nothing. I walk in the housw boom light.
An electrician found nothing wrong. It isn't on a timer nor does it go on at the same time every day. No one can figure it out. It started the day my nannny died.
Did the door eventually close easily or does it still not close this morning? All of those things happening in rapid succession, ending with the TV flipping off, certainly is an odd series of coincidences. But I don't think you're at haunting level yet since all of those things do have easy explanations at this time.
So a little more info on the door- I was laying in bed and H was standing there and he was pushing on the door and then he says WTF? and I ask what's going on and he's like Well this is weird, then all of a sudden the door shuts. So I ask him what the heck and he tells me that when he pushes on the door to close it, it was resisting / pushing back. So he opens the door to show me and of course then it shuts perfectly normally without issue. No problem with it since. Like I said, no windows open, no A/C running.
Is it humidity that would cause a swollen door jamb? I live in the Desert.

It can't hurt to do the sage, I would!
I once lived in an old apartment with three roommates and after a few months living there, we all admitted to each other that we had felt presences (we all felt silly admitting it so had been keeping it to ourselves). Nothing more than that but all of us separately felt there was something else there. Living in the Haight Ashbury, there were two wiccan/spiritual/whatever stores to choose from so I went to one and asked them what to do. They recommended sage so I waited until I was alone in the apartment and burned it, going into all parts of each room, all corners, etc. Did not tell my roommates because I didn't want them to think I was weird.
A few months later we all talked about it again and we agreed none of us had felt anything in a while. Only then did I tell them about the sage. So I think it worked?
