I dont want to Google, so tell me what you know. We're waiting for a chest x-ray now, and I have to schedule an echocardiogram. The pedi said it's probably fine, but of course, I'm worried.
My son had one - it was detected as a baby but they just wanted to monitor it until he was about 3 years old when the did some more tests with a pediatric cardiologist and it turned out to be harmless.
It was called a Still's Murmur. He's now 7 and it's not even detected anymore.
DH has had a heart murmur since birth. He is 100% fine and it has no impact beyond periodically checking in with a cardiologist just to make sure nothing has changed.
My niece had one show up around 10 months. It really was nothing to worry about and worked itself out within a year. It's fairly common from what her pedi said.
My son had one detected a little before he turned 2. His pediatrician said he most likely had it as an infant but when he finally stopped freaking out when being examined they were able to hear it better. We had a cardiologist check him out to be on the safe side and he said it was normal and called it a "innocent murmur" - said he may or may not grow out of it, either way it's fine and nothing to be concerned about.
G had one detected at birth. He's had 2-3 pedi cardiologist appts and appears to be growing out of it. I think he has one more appt around 4 and will be formally released then. It's scary, but most of the time is ok. Thinking of you!
K has had one since birth and a hole in her heart. The hole has closed up and the murmur is still there. In her case, one of her valves narrows, so they make sure that it is staying as is rather than getting smaller. She is totally fine. I think her cardiologist said they will monitor until she is an early teen.
