My second job (wedding photography) most people say, "Wow that's cool!" and then ask if I'm ever going to be able to quit my first job and do photography full-time. To which the answer is, never. I make enough to pay for taxes, advertising and other business costs, as well as pick up some new equipment each year, but I'd have to be shooting over 40 weddings a year to replace my income and hahahahaha NO.
I look at people who shoot 50 weddings a year and I'm exhausted just thinking about it. The culling, editing, social media, networking, meetings? Exhausted.

Yeah, I know! It is more than a full-time job and you have to constantly be on your marketing game. I'm happy with 10 or so weddings a year. Sometimes I have 2 weddings in a month and that seems overwhelming. LOL.
Are you a middle school teacher? I always say this to middle school teachers, lol
I work with kiddos with emotional and behavioral disorders. I work with them in schools (or at their home) but for an outside agency. Right now I have middle schoolers!

If I say accountant: "You must be good at math!" NOPE. "Can you do my taxes?" NOPE. Or if it's around April, I get "you must be busy this time of year" Actually this isn't my busy time.
Exactly! I'm an Accounting Manager and I don't even do my own taxes. NOPE. My dept doesn't even prepare taxes; a separate group does that.
Also, I work for a large insurance company so I also get complaints about the cost of premiums. Yeah, because I totally have control over that.
This. I work in clinical research at a university. I hate when I tell people I'm a researcher and they follow up with "what does your lab study?" and they don't have a background in science. The transition from a look of interest into the "I'm so sorry I asked" look is annoying. I gave you an out! Take it!
Haha, I very quickly try to just change the subject.

I work in a Dr's office. They almost without fail start sharing their medical history. I'm not even a Dr., I can't imagine what people must share with them.

"Oh I could never do that I hate people too much." "I'm sorry that sounds terrible!" "I would get fired within in a week."
Well, no it's not that bad. In fact we had lots of fun! And no you wouldn't get fired because when you have bills to pay you generally try to keep your job.
Now that I am SAHM I mostly get "good for you!" or "wow I'd be so bored."

Most people Usually ask "what is that?" When I tell them a Drug & Alcohol treatment center; I get the wide eyed "did you meet <insert celeb here>? I heard <celeb> is/was there!"
People usually get kind of uncomfortable and tell me about how their spiritual but not religious. Or they'll dig real deep for some random religious connection in their life.
I work for a large agency. Everyone knows someone who works here, and that someone is always "in charge" of something. Lol. And it's such a huge place, I almost never know who they're asking about.
I'm a software engineer. People always seem so shocked to learn what I do. I like to assume they are just intimidated by my beauty and intelligence , but it's probably because they are misogynistic assholes.
I respond to social media posts for a large retailer. I'm really just a customer service rep that doesn't have to work on phones. But I do love my job!
