I just got a notice that the entire Queen's staff has been called for a highly unusual meeting.
Disclaimers: 1. It's the Daily Mail (in allowed my trashy reading) 2. I can't link because I'm on mobile and 3. When I clicked on the link it errors out
The article shows a picture of the Queen from today too, so she was okay at least earlier today.
Only moderately reassuring since at 91 things could happen fast. I am hoping it's something like an announcement or to prepare for the legal stuff mentioned above because info came through that needed to be dealt with.
I'm worried and I'm hoping this is not the case... But I noticed in the article posted above a person is named that I recognized from another recent story about what happens when the Queen passes away:
"The first official to deal with the news will be Sir Christopher Geidt, the Queen’s private secretary, a former diplomat who was given a second knighthood in 2014, in part for planning her succession."
This meeting was called *last night* for *today*. If both the Queen and Prince Phillip have been seen today (Wednesday), this is not about a health crisis.
And when they pass, there will not be a meeting called 24 hours in advance to let the staff know before it's released to the media.
That would be happy but probably not an emergency. I hope the Queen is okay.
Unless they eloped?
Wouldn't that violate the royal marriages act? Which would be a pretty big deal. Unless she had given her permission and they ran off quickly there after.

I'm pretty sure it was called today for tomorrow. The timing is weird since it was written in the uk but it is a meeting for tomorrow morning.

Yes, that last one. I feel like this has already been run by the Queen.
Or not. If anyone would say 'fuck it', it would be Harry.

Plus by removing himself from the succession it would eliminate some of the resistance to the marriage.
His place in succession or lack there of has little to no bearing on the stuff he cares about (his charities, spending time in Africa, supporting William) so kind of the ultimate fuck you I'm out with minimal real negatives for him.

And what does it matter now? Harry's now 5th in line.
My first thought was that the Queen is stepping down. I know she has said she won't, but between her and Philip's health issues this past year, maybe she feels it is time?

There is no way the Queen will abdicate. No way. If she is not physically or mentally capable anymore there may be a regency, but she will not fully abdicate.
