We have to replace the carpet in our den (and perhaps other rooms). We currently have carpet in the den and bedrooms and hardwood (horizontal bamboo) or ceramic tile in all other rooms. The den is roughly 600 sq ft. This is the room where we spend most of our time and has most of W's toys. We play on the floor a lot. I really like having nice, soft cushiony carpet, but I think hardwood with an area rug would be cleaner. What do you have and/or what would you prefer to have and why? Bonus points for specifics on brands, styles, grain, etc.
We have hardwood plus an area rug everywhere except the playroom, and that's only because it already was carpeted wh n we moved in. I like hardwood better because it's easier to clean.
Our new house has hardwood everywhere and I HATE it. I feel like I spend my life sweeping and cleaning floors now. We had to buy area rugs for the kids to play on. I know I'm in the minority, but I wish we had carpet in the living room and bedrooms.
Wood for sure w area rug Future homebuyers dint want to deal with your stains and will prob have to pay to reinstall carpets before moving in so it's an additional cost for them
I am weird and prefer carpet in our main play room. My kids are so messy and they can make our wood floors look like a mess in 5 minutes flat. They take forever to make the carpet look awful. The key for me is to invest in a high quality carpet so it's easy to clean and stays good looking.
I do prefer wood in non-play rooms and will eventually change our current play room to wood when the kids are older.
