Best resources for leveling books? I haven't played elementary or English in many moons. I've basically been going with whether the book can be read with only a few word checks and whether the comprehension is there. But I know I had resources when I was going through school. Just can't remember what they were.
You can down load the scholastic app and it will tell you the guided reading level of the book (for scholastic books only). There are other apps that do this as well.
In addition to guided reading level (AKA F&P) there are other leveling systems.
Are you trying to find books that will help you find the level? Or just leveled books? The rule of thumb for finding if it's the kid's level, is 95%+ accuracy and adequate comprehension. Just pick 100 words of text and have them read it.
I guess I'm just looking to find her level so I can find other adequately leveled books. I need to get A to the library soon because she wants/needs some new stuff to read. The want/ability level is different. I've been going off what we have here, but most of the stuff she has is too easy. Or the things that we read together are too hard. She needs some kinder screening so they can do that part of it for me.

I use the running record passages from reading A to Z to find independent and instructional levels on my students. I can send you a handful of passages on Monday if you want. They are really easy to use and there is a chart that will convert the level to pretty much any leveling system.
