Omg, Ruby!!!
She has to take this antibiotic FOUR times a day for the next week. She's had two doses and it was a horrible, horrible struggle. She begged me to take her to the hospital and give her a shot instead. The most recent dose I was literally hysterically crying and begging her to drink it.
So, it's not going well! Haha
I've tried bribes, explaining how it works, everything. She is so strong willed. She was happily taking the other antibiotic before this, so I think it really is that this one tastes awful.
I once made Jello shots for my 3yo. It was an antihistamine that she had and had to take for 3mo. Make the Jello strong, like the jigglers recipe. Pour into mini muffins cups. Let cool to room temp (very important!) Then add a dose of medicine to each cup and chill. Obviously try it with one for first in case the Jello doesn't fly with her.
And the Jello shot method only made it tolerable, I still bribed her to eat it, she just wasn't hysterical.

I should prob make some with alcohol for myself to help me through this process, lol
We've always just used the syringe with Blake. I sit him in a chair and hold his head and squirt it in. Not sure if it would work w her though. I never knew they could flavor medicine. Why don't they just do that in the beginning?!?
Omg bad tasting antibiotic is the worst. And the serving size seems sooo huge too. I think I remember the last time instead of using the syringes I used a spoon as it was faster but other than that I don't know. I agree having them flavor it is worth a try or even pills. But would the pills be huge?
How many mls is her dose? Can you mix it one to one with chocolate syrup or maple syrup?
5ml with each dose. I was thinking of chocolate syrup. I just got the pharmacist to flavor it with mango (that was the only option), but I only have a partial prescription and need to go back and get the rest tomorrow anyway. So I figure if the mango is a major fail I can just try a new method tomorrow with the new refill.

Try a single dose mixed with 5ml of chocolate syrup. Also, give a treat chaser. Animal cookies work well to neutralize the flavour. Also, you should just text me these issues!

I have to give Jane medicine every night. It was tough at first but she's used to it now. I have to crush the pill and mix with water and squirt it in her mouth. Her other medicine I give to her crushed in her milk when she wakes up motn.
(She has a very, very bad sleep disorder. Was literally only sleeping 2-3 hours total at night and not napping. It was a nightmare. I would drive around for hours with everyone in the car hoping she'd fall asleep for a nap to get her to stop screaming. She now needs two different meds to sleep, and her sleep is still difficult but much better than when she doesn't take them. Just incase you were wondering. If not, sorry for the novel lol!)
So we ordered a pill crusher and that really helps make it easier.
If you can't do pills, can you try mixing it in whatever she might not notice the taste? Rose is sooooo difficult with medicine, I can never find a good solution. Always have to wrestle her about it. Sometimes she throws up. I dread any time she needs an antibiotic. Elias and Ezra like medicine.
Smoothies. It is literally THE only thing that works here. We made up some stupid name to call them so he realized it was a smoothie he only got when he was sick.

We had to give it to her MOTN (it's 4x a day/every 6h-kill me) and it involved chocolate syrup, ice cream, juice and pretzels but she got it down. Just gave her another dose and it was horrible but slightly less horrible.

Oh man Trudy, that sucks.
Not that it helps much, but are you certain it has to be every 6 hours? I think we had to give this one (it was yellow and 4 times per day) and we just spaced it out in the hours she was awake. We didn't wake her to give meds.

Yea it must be the same because she has a UTI which I know you were also dealing with. The pediatrician recommended every 6 hours and I wanted to do it yesterday because it was the first day and I was nervous about her having this resistant bacteria. Today she seems SOOOO much better and is running around like a maniac, so I'll see how many doses we can squeeze in today. Im thinking of doing one at like 11pm before I go to bed so I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night.

I am glad she is feeling better! It has surprised me how well Annabelle was willing to take her meds, we did have to bribe her, but the bribes worked.
Hopefully Ruby comes to terms with taking it and quits fighting it so much.
