This afternoon, Abby learned you don't call Mommy's bluff. She didn't want to sort out her books to be packed now vs. kept until last, so I told her if she didn't do it, I would choose for her. She agreed, so I went in and pulled every chapter book in the house. As she watched me grab Dork Diaries, Harry Potter, etc, she was repeatedly reminded she could do it herself. She refused.
I told DH, it was like we were both waiting for the other person to blink. After I taped up the boxes, she admitted she didn't really think I would do it.
Lord, help me. This child is as stubborn as I am.
(yes, this is copied from my FB post. I didn't feel like retyping it)
Good for you for packing them up! Maybe next time she will listen (though Daniel never seems to learn, at least at this age).
She was kind of playing it off a bit, until I mentioned that next weekend we're sorting toys in the same way. Her eyes lit up and she asked, "Will the same deal apply and I won't have to do it if I don't want to?"
I looked her dead in the eye and said, yes, if she didn't want to, I would pack it, but if I was packing, I was packing every.toy. in her room. Including her special dolls.

She has a week to make her decision.
I would also say that if I'm packing everything up then I get to decide if we are keeping or donating it!
